Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

I ended up with 1 frizzle and I am with you thinking one is male. He has a red comb and its gotten big, the other two still just have small, light colored combs.

After all of the initial deaths in my last shipment, they are all doing well. I will take photos and post of my 3 week old chicks tomorrow.

Mine isn't red yet but I suspect it to turn any day now. I REALLY hope my 2 silkies are girls cause I already have 4 Roos now and I'm already gonna have to get rid of at least one of my grown silkies.

Oh, I didn't notice that part, yeah that sounds way too early for a chicken to lay an egg. I don't mind waiting the usual time myself. Plus I heard the earlier they lay the earlier they stop laying and also early layers could have more complications.

Speaking on something similar. I wanted to look into getting meat birds in the future. I do not want the rabid growing cornish x chickens. What other breeds are good as meat birds that grow more the natural way? Has anyone on here gotten other types of meat birds that have turned out good too?

Slow Cornish grow slower and are smaller than the Fast Cornish. They seem to have fewer growing problems (heart attack, leg problems, etc.).

Hmmm, the laying as early as 12 weeks thing makes me leery about those Austra Whites...

Thanks for the responses about the Easter-eggers, by the way. I'm not sure I like the odds of green or blue eggs with their Easter-eggers. I'm thinking if I order next year, I'll go with one each of the Black Copper Marans, Welsummer, Silver Gray Dorking, and maybe one other in case the Dorkings are a no-go again.

Everything else about the Austra White sounds nice though. But I've come to realize that chickens end up with their own personality regardless of breed. Many people say their BA's are quiet and docile but mine are the top of the pecking order and one kinda yells a lot and the other is bossy in a quiet way.

I would try a Black Copper Marans or Welsummer too. Although I'm addicted to those EE's and just love to see how they look as a chick and then full grown- they're all so different!

We got 25 Freedom Rangers from Meyer for a meat bird experiment. We have had them free ranging since they were about 2-3 weeks old. They are a slower grower and need about a month of additional time before processing. They aren't as ugly as the cornish X so if you get attached easily, you may want to try something else. They are very friendly and come running when they see us because they know we bring food.
We are processing a few of them tomorrow ourselves (well, my husband and some friends are. I don't think I'll be partaking) and then taking the rest to a place to get done.
I have been happy with them but after reading about people's successful experiences on here with free ranging the cornish X I think we might try those next time. I will also change how we feed them and only give them food in the morning and night instead of free feed once they are on pasture. We are feeding organic and we had to buy much more food than I expected so they are pricey birds! Of course we think a goat got into their food multiple times so we'll see what our real food costs are next time.

I'm pretty sure you have a male and a female there, but what age are they? I have weekly pictures of Po if you want to compare, too. He's all man now, pointy feathers, crowing, and everything.
