Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

I was outside with the girls, and I just realised that Ellie's comb has grown more than double the size it was. It has gotten wider and taller, and it's starting to turn pink. Maybe she'll start laying soon.

Well my husband is def gonna kill me, I added a Welsummer & Sultan to my order and I'm trying very hard not to add the 3 or 4 other breeds that were sold out but they have now.

We do something similar to integrate our young ones. We have a "tractor" inside the chicken run. When they are first put out I leave the door to it shut. This allows everyone to see each other but not get to each other. I have chick food, water, and a perch in the tractor. Once they are out there for awhile I prop the door open enough to allow the little ones to get in and out but not the big ones. Once I see the little ones not using the tractor often I either open the door completely or shut it completely. For the first week or so I bring the chicks in every night. Once the door on the tractor is propped open we put them to sleep with the big girls after they are all settled in. This has worked well for us.

Oops, I have a Golden Laced Wyandotte, but Buffy is a Buff Laced Polish. I mis-typed on that post. I should have known better since that is the reason her name is Buffy.

Plus my last Polish I had before, Elvis, was a Golden Laced Polish.

Oh and nice order selection, good luck with your husband. I remind mine all the time of the expenses of his hobbies, so my chicken expenses don't seem so bad.

I completely forgot you had adult EE's. Thanks for the pictures! Ellie's comb looks like Olivia's, just a little shorter and not quite as red.

This Sunday when the girls turn 18 weeks I'm going to go out and try to get some individual pictures of each of my girls.

Annie laid her first egg! It weighs 1.2 ounces just like Alice's first. I was sitting right there the whole time, and she was very quite. She just stood up, squeezed out the egg, and then sat there for a few minutes. When she hopped out of the nest box she made up for her quietness. Her egg song was LOUD! It set off my rooster and 3 other hens, which made it unbelievable loud in the coop. I'm sure all of the neighbors were wondering what all of the racket was about.

None of my neighbors know I have chickens so when the racket starts I cringe a little bit. So far no complaints!

I guess with EE's it is hard to really estimate since you never know what they're crossed with. Both of mine laid a month apart. It'll be interesting to see if my new EE chicks will lay around the same time or not, but I guess I have a long wait.

So far Annie and Alice have already started, and Im thinking Sunni, Ellie, and Lucy (golden Campine) are going to start soon. Everyone else still have short combs, no redness, and none of the others squat yet. Im thinking Amber is crossed with something. Her comb is a lot different than Ellie's, she has no beard, and her legs are a really dark green instead of an olive green. I'm curious as to what egg color she'll end up laying.

Here is Izzy just before she started laying. This was 18
weeks and she laid a few days later



Here she is now: Her comb is not big at all.


This is Cleo at 18 weeks and she started to lay about 2 weeks later.
Her comb is pretty small too


I'll try to get Mrs Puff and BeeBee this weekend but I have company tomorrow til Monday
so it may be after that
