Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

My eggs for today! 4 more girls to go! This time last week I had gotten my 2nd egg, week later we have 6! Not sure the mystery layer. Its either a red star, BR, BO, or an EE. 25 weeks yesterday! The EE started up yesterday! I have another who needs to give me a pretty colored egg!! :) I love chickens!

I love my Easter Egger's eggs! It is exciting every time she lays an egg because her eggs are a defferent shade every time! So far her eggs have been olive green, lime green, green with brown spots, and bluish green.

I also love my Australorp's eggs! They are a pretty dark brown color. Right now my Easter Egger and Australorp are the only two Meyer girls that are laying. My Blue Laced Red Wyandotte and Speckled Sussex have not started yet and my Blue Andalusian has not laid since it got really cold.

This is my Easter Egger Rose.

My Australorp Violet.

And their eggs!

My EE Ellie looks just like yours. Beautiful eggs! Congrats!

Oh my!! I was just out in the coop and squatted down petting on some of my girls when one of the 6 month old BOs flew up onto my shoulder!! She rode there all the way while I walked into the house to show the kids! Apparently, she thinks she's a parrot... Lol so cute!!
The sociable chickens make it so much fun!

That picture was of my two Meyer girls eggs but I'll have to go out and get good pictures of them this week. The blue layer is a chocolate/wild pattern with black beard/muff and the green layer is a solid chestnut with chestnut beard/muff.

I have 4 EEmix pullets that I hatched myself and 7 EE pullets from Meyer. Acutually, you can see the blue layer in the background of this pic

Pretty Girl EEmix lays beautiful xlarge green egg with tiny olive spots
I love the dark EE's. I had one last year and unfortunately it was the EE that the stray dog killed. She was a pretty hen and laid an olive green egg. She had just started laying.

That's adorable and a nice rich color!

Yay for the EE egg... very pretty color!!

NICE! I have 2 EEs that lay green but they're pretty much the same color (NOT complaining at all) LOVE that you have such different colors.
Your girls and eggs are very pretty!

LOL, love that. Only one of my girls will fly onto my arm when I put it out. Yes, just like a parrot. She's my Barred Rock and my fav right now

Very pretty... I'd love to see more pics. The EE in the back of the top pic looks gorgeous!! I love those black heads/necks and lighter bodies.
It didn't quote your whole quote. We're getting the snow here too. We have a couple inches from yesterdays storm and we're supposed to get hit with a bunch more today and tomorrow. It is coming down now, just hope it just snows and the sleet they are predicting stays away. I do not envy you with your power loss. Spring, where are you?

Candled again today. We have 10 (out of 18) that we can tell are developing. We threw 3 more away today and 1 is an unknown because of the dark shell. Not too bad for shipped eggs so far. Fingers crossed those 10 make it all the way to hatching!
Nice! Congrats!!!!!

I love chickens!
Congrats!!!! I have 2 or 3 of my 16 new girls that I am waiting to start up. The rest are laying up a storm, even in this cold weather!

Does anyone have any advice for me? The girls are bored and sick of being cooped up, and they have started pulling out Ellie's beard and the feathers on the top of Lilly's head. I have tried treats and everything. I don't know what to do to keep them busy until Spring when we can build their permanent coop outside. Considering it is only February and we have 3 ft of snow, I'm not going to be able to build the coop for a while.

Sorry to hear about your hen, I've lost birds to a neighbors dog a few years ago. I just love the variety that we get with the EEs.

I've gotten mine a flock block at Tractor Supply and I have heard that some people hang a cabbage for them. I have not tried that. I've also put lots of roosts and pallets throughout the run for hiding spots, etc. I'm sure there may be some better ideas out there.

I took a few more pictures this morning. Here are a couple of photos, its super cold today, about -9*f when I went out to do chores and take pictures so that's why some of the girls are only standing on one leg.
This is probably my favorite Meyer EE, I think she is so cute with her giant black beard/muff.

The EE in the front is from Meyer, the EE in the back is one of my mixes I hatched. I don't think either girl is laying yet.

This is the blue layer from Meyer, I think it's surprising that she doesn't have the typical muff/beard that I would expect from a blue layer. It was really hard to get good pictures of her, she's incredibly shy and kept dodging under my nest boxes.

She has a cute little noodle comb.

This is one of my twenty-some barred rocks, they are fabulous layers.

Silver Laced Wyandotte from Meyer, her lacing is not the greatest but she is still so pretty and a great layer too. I love my Wyandottes and the cold weather hardly seems to phase them.

I'll have to look into the flock blocks or maybe get a cabbage this week. I also have to put a top on their temporary coop in the garage. One if my cats climbed up there and was sitting on the edge, and my girls saw the cat up there and thought, "What a good idea!" Now I can't get them to stop jumping out of the top of the coop. It is about 7 ft tall, and I made sure to hang the roosts really low thinking that would keep them from jumping out. Looks like I was wrong!

Yes I agree.

I actually make my own flock blocks, there are lots of recipes online for them.

Mine are very bored too. Haven't seen my grass in 3 months from all the snow and were are to get at least another foot tonight.
I was throwing ice chips in their run today and they loved it. They were pecking them up. Since their is a couple inches of ice covering the snow...

My girls love to eat the snow on my boots when I step into the coop. It makes it hard to walk in there when you have 8 hens swarming your feet.

I went out to check on them just now, and I found Annie in a tote filled with towels and she was sitting on three eggs. So they have really taken a liking to that tote. I moved it into the coop for them, so hopefully that kind of helps keep them from jumping out of the coop.

Pretty girls!!! I have 2 Barred Rocks, beautiful girls, but I don't think they are laying yet! I do have one mystery layer that's laid a small beige egg and I'm not sure who that is, but I know the rest that are laying. They are 25 weeks 2 days! BIG beautiful red combs but I don't think they are laying!

How old are they when they start laying? And do they usually lay every day? Yesterday I got 6 eggs, 3 from red stars, 1 BO, 1 EE and a mystery layer. 2 of these girls just started and today only got 2.
