I was just looking at our last chick that I'm unsure of. She is the same size if not smaller than the bantams. I thought she was all white but I just went to check if she has a beard or not and noticed her covert feathers are coming in grey so she is probably is a splash of some sort. She has clean legs and face. Here is a pic of the 6 smallest chicks. We ordered 5 bantam EE's, so one is something else. I'm pretty sure it's her since she has a single comb and the others don't. Any guesses? The only breeds I see are blue andalusian or blue orpington. Anyone ever get a really tiny one of these? She is the wet one on the far right (someone pooped on her and it glued her wing down so she got a little bath). I'm really interested to see how those 3 middle ones feather out. Unfortunately I think the blue and one of the 3 middle ones are boys. I can see ridges on their combs where the other 3 are non existent.

I hope for all of us and our chickens/chicks that this cold weather is leaving soon. I had trouble opening up the doors to the run this morning, everything was frozen again. Really wish I had a big heated waterer already. Well next year, this weather is almost over.No thank goodness. We only got 2 inches!! WooHoo!! That was our 15th snow event and it's going down to 2 degrees tonight and tomorrow night![]()
Hopefully the end of winter is near
Got it, thx
Yup males are EE's too and hopefully you get a few fertile eggs. That would be great!!
I love the nick name. Some people get too uptight. I love hatchery chickens and the many varieties that you can get. I think it is neat to raise pure breeds too, but that is a whole other thing, but I respect people who do it. I prefer hatchery birds right now for me.Thanks! On another forum I caught a lot of grief for her legs being green. I guess that's pretty common with hatchery birds, and a big no-no with the heritage. My dad called her Mrs. Green Jeans, so he was not happy with the yellowing legs.
Oh, so exciting!!! I remember the waiting, prep and anticipation, so excited for you and can't wait to see the pics!!
Oh no, is it the weather that is causing you these problems? I am so sorry that you lost another one.Oh no! We just found the lighter one next to the mystery chick dead in the brooder.![]()
She has always been wobbly but she has lasted so long and was doing ok earlier it was a surprise to find her. I hope that's the last one, but our silver spangled hamburg is also wobbly and has been a worry from the start so I won't be totally surprised to find it dead tomorrow or the next day.
Yay, can't wait to follow along in your hatch. I hope that you find time to update us. How many total eggs will you hatch? Have you hatch many before?I can't wait to have babies again. Somehow I managed to coordinate my egg deliveries at the same time. I have marans and EE eggs coming from Meyer and Ameraucana eggs from another BYCer. I'm too excited.

They are really cute. I hope the weather cooperates and there are no more losses.
