Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Those of you using wood ash, do you have bathing boxes in the coop or outside? If so, does it create a very dusty atmosphere in there?
I keep mine outside under some cover.

All these pics of chicks is making me want to bump up my order to come sooner, which is probably not wise. I have a very busy March, and won't be able to start building my coop until April anyway. I just turned in my application to the city planning commission and I actually have to show up at the meeting on April 9th to present my plan. Then I'll pick up my four chicks on the 16th! 1 GLW, 1SS, 1BR, 1golden buff. I'd love to get more, but I'm only allowed the four.
April is not too far away. Hang in there! Great breeds too!

BEAUTIFUL job!! I love the purple roosts and nest boxes. Seeing the construction makes me want to start another project lol!
Thanks! I know you always want to start one, but if your like us, you get to a point in the middle of it that you wish you could hurry up and finish it!

Update on Olive:
In the recovery ward of the garage, next to the power washer lol. She seems much more lively today. Someone suggested this is just a pecking order thing. Anyway, she's drinking a good amount of water today, so I feel better about that, but she wasn't really interested in food. Not even the scrambled eggs. So glad I'm off from work today so I can keep an eye on her.
I hope the reintroduction to the flock goes smoothly. She was number two in the pecking order, so I hope she can regain a place quickly. I definitely cannot have a house chicken. I haven't even to my MIL about the incubator yet cause I just know she thinks I'm nuts!!!
So sorry about Olive, Chickens can be so mean to each other sometimes! I hope that she recovers well. I you have a small cage that you can put inside the coop for her maybe that will help with any readjustment?

Well, I am really upset with out city council right now. One of the board members emailed us and said that they are having a meeting one Wednesday to discuss allowing chickens in this area. The man who emailed us said that from what it seems, they are going to allow chickens.

Here's the part that upsets me. They originally told us that because of the size of our property, we would be allowed to have 8 hens. Now he is saying that we can only have at most 5 hens. Which means I am looking at the possibility of re-homing more hens.

I spent 15 minutes watching my girls this morning and I can't even decide who I would keep and who I wouldn't.

I suppose I'll just have to wait and see what they decide on Wednesday.
Oh wow, so sorry... I don't know why you can't do what we want in your own back yard. That's so mean! We already had set limits here which helped a lot. 5 is such a small amount!

We moved all 22 chickens today. Over half of them we moved throughout the afternoon since they are nice and do not mind being picked up.

The last 9 we just moved now. I never realized how crazy Golden Campines were, maybe it's just ours but she screamed the whole way to the new coop. She was so loud! They're all in there though and my husband helped a lot with moving them.

My son and daughter helped move the run today too, we still have a lot of work, but the coop is done and they are in it. So glad that is over with, they'll just have to stay in the coop until the run is ready for them.

I now have a camera in there too!!

You must be so relieved to have that done. Good for you! I hope you post photos of your girls in their new home!

I hope Olive continues to improve.

I'm glad you were successful in your chicken moving. I hope the campine was one of the last ones you moved! lol

My next project is an automatic door. We want to be able to go on a road trip this spring/summer and not have to have someone come over 2x a day to let the chickens in and out.
I don't want to spend the price they are asking for prebuilt ones so I've spent a few hours today researching DIY ones. Some ideas getting in my head.

How's Miss Olive today?

My whole family pretty much thinks I'm nuts too! So many do not get the concept of fresh eggs when they can go to the store and buy a carton. Some think it is odd that the eggs are not all white or brown and they're not all the same size. A lot of them still think that brown eggs are better for you and that you have to have a rooster in order for the hens to lay eggs. My husband is supportive and loves having chickens and my kids are all in their 20's now and are very health conscience and love the free eggs. They're the ones that matter the most and the others are slowly coming around.

I hope Olive is improving and your MIL catches on with your chicken adventure.

My poor Olive. She hasn't been eating. Going to try worming her today. I left her some veggies before work, hopefully she will eat something. Hubby is talking about eating the bad girl that attacked her. If she continues to be mean, she's going into the freezer.

The eggs look good and the bator is holding steady. My next batch are arriving today. I guess I have to let the secret out!! Lol!

Did any of you see the huge amount of breeds Meyer has available to ship right now? Gosh I would be tempted if I didn't already have my order for the 24th.

Yes! So tempting to change my April 28th order to today! too bad I am stuck at work and couldn't make the 2 hour drive before they closed :(
