Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

It is easy! I just feed it to them anytime we have squash. lol
I don't know how often I do it but we eat quite a bit of squash. I throw all my scraps and the seeds in their run and they gobble it all up. I haven't had any signs of worms from them (they are a little over a year old).
I give mine squash seeds too, pumpkin and butternut works well too. I also give them garlic powder sprinkled on their food and I have heard chopped up garlic cloves help too and the ACV with the mother. (Apple Cider Vinegar). The ACV may be more of keeping a healthy gut then for worms though. I have also heard cayenne pepper is helpful too. Apparently they are not affected by the heat from the peppers like we are.

During pumpkin season you can give them a whole half of a pumpkin to enjoy.

Has anyone else noticed a high ratio of switch-a-ROOS? I am starting to think that 3 out of 4 of my LBLeghorns and 2 out of 4 of my golden buff and one of my EEs are all roos! If they are, that would be 6 out of 11 mistakes!!!

Any other experiences would be great?
Not me, in all 3 of my orders last year, I did not get even one rooster.

Thanks everyone. I am hoping that I am wrong,

I do know that LBL have large combs at young ages so maybe..... I will give them a few weeks but if they continue to be "rooish" their future is bleak

My LBL, Izzie had us fooled for a while too. Pip is right and I think she advised me at the time that the LBL's just have big combs early on. Izzie acted a little rooish too and still does. When we moved them a couple days ago in the night she attacked my husband when he was getting our CW. She jumped on him and started flapping! So they are a little more aggressive and flighty then the others. So hopefully your LBL is just an aggressive female. My other LBL is much calmer. They both lay large white eggs and are such pretty hens. The more aggressive LBL has a serious "comb over" comb too.

I need to put updated pics of my flock soon in their new coop.

They are cute. I love that you have a poultry pile siting on eggs. LOL. Do you have any pics of your salmon faverolle? I'd love to see her. I added one to my order in May.

This is Daisy. She was such an adorable fluffy cheeked chick. As an adult she walks around us fussing all the time. Right now she every feather on her body stands on end when you so much as look at her nest, making her neck feathers look like a sci-fi cowl around her head.

You must be relieved that job is done. The Campine may be loud but I've heard that means they would be really helpful if there was a predator around. Just trying to look on the bright side

You will love the camera. I'm always checking them out especially if I'm bored waiting in line at the grocery store.
It is so neat to watch them with the camera! I have it focused on the nest boxes. With how big the coop is we can't see the roosts and the nest boxes at the same time. I will not complain though. I kept hitting my head cleaning out the old coop yesterday, which reminded how much I will appreciate the new one.

One problem though is that we did not put in outside access to the egg doors. I don't mind going into the coop but if someone watches them for us they might mind. Oh well, we do not travel that often and they should be fine to leave for a day or two without anyone checking on them. Plus I can check them on the camera to make sure their okay.

No one can tell me my chickens don't have a secret computer out there....

LOOK what I got today!!!

One year and 2 days old I finally got 2 green eggs in one day LOL.
When I went out for my chicken chores it looked like Izzy was going to lay, or I should say sounded like it because she's a screamer, and then she joined BeeBee in the nest about an hour later. She likes to lay with someone else I think because the Nest Nazi (evil RIR) constantly pecks at her as soon as she tries to go into an empty nest box. Theres safety in numbers where she's concerned.
I'm just glad she laid because I was thinking something was wrong with her, like worms even though I never saw any in the poo.

Sounds like it's time for another camera

We have one for the run and one for the roosts. One of my surprise gifts from my DH when we got the chicks.
They can't both run at the same time because of the distance from the house and something to do with the internet... i don't get it but i know we can't have both at the same time. So the run one comes on at 6:30 am until dusk then the inside one comes on and I can count them to make sure they're all in for the night then the automatic door closes. But if you can't do that, when you go away you can adjust the camera onto the roosts so you have peace of mind that they all are safely inside until morning.
Oh, to have a walk in chicken coop. That's my dream. I have to really hunch over in mine.

Does anyone know if they make a camera that doesn't work off of the internet? I do not wifi at home and have to use a Verizon network so it costs more.

Everyone I see you have to have internet connection to it. I would love to be able to watch my girls do their chicken stuff!

I was out the in the yard yesterday since it was almost 70deg out (snowing really hard right now!) and let the chickens out to do some free ranging. I didn't notice our gold laced polish but I wasn't really counting them. But an hour or so later I went to lock them back up in their area and couldn't find her. I looked everywhere, she is nowhere to be found. She is the one that can escape their area and I found her in the front yard a few days ago! She is skittish and won't come to us when called so there's no hope of just calling for her. I'm afraid she hopped a fence into a neighbor's yard. All of our neighbors have at least 2 dogs so this is not a good thing. I couldn't see her in their yards, but I can't see all of it and who knows if a dog carried her off. We walked around our cul-de-sac and didn't see her. She didn't come home last night either. Stupid chicken!!!

Our chicks are all doing good now. No more deaths. We combined the bantams in with the bigger girls so we could free up the brooder for the hatchlings this weekend. If all the developing ones hatch we'll have 18 chicks.

Yay!! It's true. As soon as I complained about no eggs, there were eggs! At least we're on to them.

I think one of the baby monitors would work? When my kids were small they had the audio only ones, but I know they have camera ones now too.

Sounds like it's time for another camera

Ha ha. I wish. We have our security cameras around the house and one was hooked to the outside of the shed that we converted do my DH said he thought the cord would reach and he moved it into the coop! I really lucked out there. He knows I have been searching online for one separate from our security system just for the coop. So he made me happy and saved money at the same time. I did go and look in the little window today which is right by the roosts and could see all of them using each level. They are just so cute!! I am so glad they are comfortable and they looked very content. They do fuss a lot during the day though since the run is still not ready for them. We've had nice weather here, but they have to stay locked up until the run is done. Tomorrow it is storming so that will delay us even more.

Oh no, I hope that you find her soon.
