I'm picking up my chicks Monday! I ordered:

5 barred rock
5 easter eggers
5 golden buffs
3 olive eggers
3 speckled Sussex

Hopefully I can tell them all apart because I am not really sure what the easter eggers and olive eggers will look like!

Day 20 of our incubation and already have 3 chicks hatched! Went to check the temp/humidity this morning and found this. Went to work and came home to 2 more. 2 more are working at it. So exciting that our homemade incubator worked! :weee
Adorable! Haven't tried hatching my own just yet. I'm afraid I will never stop! Lol :yiipchick

Hopefully those do well. :fl

Can't sleep! I've been doing so good until now. Set it and forget is a great motto IF you can stick to it. I've been staring at eggs for a few hours. To take my mind off of it, I downloaded a spreadsheet app so I can look at my data when I'm away from home. Now I just keep staring at the spreadsheet. As if it will tell me something I DON'T know :caf

In their new digs.

Your birds look great! Nice digs! How big is the new brooder? How long before they can be moved outside to a coop? I imagine warm weather comes a little later to you than it does come to me in CT.

I am glad to know that I am not the only one who obsesses! :caf :yesss:

I feel you. I've spent hours staring at eggs the last 2 days! That spreadsheet is very helpful. I loved being able to see my temps/humidity were staying steady and any trends. I would like to add a column for outside temp. The spreadsheet I had has a column for room temp but our house is always kept at 68 during the day so that wouldn't tell me much. But I'd like to see if the outside temp, since our brooder sits along an outside wall, has any effect on the tmeps or humidity (thinking maybe the heater running more or something).

We have 7 out and one working on it. We have 8 eggs left with no pips or anything yet. Trying to be patient since today is actually hatching day.

I can't embed it but here is a video of a silkie hatching

I just took a video of another silkie hatching too. This one took a lot longer to get out of the shell but it was fun to watch. I'll edit it down too.
I know you aren't supposed to open the bator but the chicks had scattered the eggs to the far sides so I put them back to the middle and huddled together again. None of these last ones have pipped yet still. But I listened to a couple of them and could hear cheeping so it shouldn't be much longer.
