Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Bet that us way too tempting! I think I have found a few local sources near us. The first place is a farm around 20 to 30 minutes away. The city is hosting a farm tour event in a few weeks, so I looked at all their farms on the list and then looked to see if they have chickens. The name of the 1st place we'll visit is Allee'Bubba farms. They have produce, meat and eggs too. So hopefully it will be a nice place to visit. I am hoping they have hatching eggs too, they do sell chicks.

Everyone's suggestion have been great. Just call them back in with a "here, chick, chick and a shake of a container of scratch and BOSS and you're good to go. Mine will be going out again to free range by the weekend since the city is finishing up our yard this week!!! So excited for us and the chickens!!!

YAY!!!!!!! So excited for you!!!!!!!!
A farm tour ... that's great!! And you can check them out for eggs/chicks. Nice.
Oh boy, the girls will be so happy to free range again I'm sure )

Very cool ramshead, where did you find that?!
My mom has been selling antiques for eons and she found this somewhere. It was hanging on our brick wall next to the back door for years but my DH moved it to the coop since it was actually a fountain and now can be used as one. It is pretty cool. We love going to antique stores every time we go to Hershey PA area. Used to be able to get good 'finds' years ago but now it's all pretty pricey.

Here are my week old babies from Meyer. My wife used the food tray to keep their attention and took beautiful portraits of each one. You can see they all have nice wing feathers starting. It's so funny when they stretch out their wings and you can see this beautiful miniature wing all fanned out.

B'Ellana the Barred Rock. She is the quickest growing out of the four, and already has some tail feathers coming in. You can see the little tufts of down getting pushed out.

Lucy the Golden Buff, who is so far the slowest growing and most laid back, sweetest personality.

Ahsoka the Golden Laced Wyandotte, who loves to scratch at the food and stand on the food tray all the time.

Freckles the Speckled Sussex (after the nickname given to Kate by Sawyer on the TV show Lost)

You can tell from the names that we are very nerdy sci-fi fans.
Great pics! It sure is hard to get such great photos of them staying still.

I got 2 EE and 2 Silkies today!!! One white and one, I guess, blue. I drove the boy crazy picking out the EE's LOL
I wanted the puffiest faces and not to light colored, but different looking from each other and green legs and on and on it went.

Brabanters should be in on Friday...

I didn't get individual pics of the Silkies yet. They are so small and kind of wobbly when they walk. I made sure to pick ones that were eating at the store but I'm not seeing them eat here yet. The EE's seem pretty good to go

I have a white rock too! Lol here's a pic of her...I'm pretty sure she's a white rock. White rock: Buff orp? Mystery chick (little wings)..maybe this is a buff o and the one above is the meal maker?
I'm pretty sure your white Rock is actually a white Jersey Giant, Giants have grey shanks while Rocks have yellow.
Your meal maker could be a male BO which could explain the different feathering.
Not true, if you only order layers, Meyer will only give out a pullet if you order layers and you receive a st run meat chick if you order meat chickens.
I agree. Giants are said to mature so much slower. Could be why she looks smaller. Also, the chicks is probably a pullet. They'll send you a pullet if you order only pullets.

Oh my goodness. I don't know if I've ever seen such fluffy faces! They are so adorable. I need more babies!!

Ohh Jersey giant! I've been wanting one of those but they were unavailable for apr 9 hatch day. I forgot that they DO mature slower than the rest...makes sense. If it is a JG then that would be great. I only have layers for eggs & pets :-D

Cheeper, did you buy these in their store? Get an assortment?

In the store? No, I placed a phone order. Last time I got my order within 2 days but this time I tracked the order and found it was sitting @the post office about 45 min away before being delivered to my post office. I decided to pick them up rather than having to wait another day. My assortment:

1 Dominique
1 buff orpington
1 EE
1 white rock
1 meal maker

I thought that at first too since a buff o was already a part of my order I figured they sent two of them but now I'm noticing the two are looking a little different. I think this is the buff orp:

Buff orp?

The chick in question has smaller wings and is looking lighter in color.

To me, it looks like one of my Delawares. Here is a photo for comparison:

A Delaware is at the bottom left of the photo. Behind her to the left is a Golden Buff (as well as at the bottom right peeking out from under the brinsea) and on her other side a Buff Orpington (another is on the top right of the brinsea). The Delawares started out looking like your classic yellow chick and have gotten more whit each week. My son named one Tweety, but Casper would have been more appropriate![/quote]

Cool I used to have a delaware roo and I named him wiggles. Could be a possibility...

So cute! How tiny are the silkies? They look like there are half the size as the EEs. Very sweet!

Cheeper, can you take a seperate photo of each baby in the same lighting? Then we might able to narrow down who is who.
