Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Here are my Meyer babies today!

6 days old already!

Elda!

Elda gets her cuddles every day.

Today, she fell asleep in my hand!

Kit, the littlest little one:

Here's Kit (and Louise) poking around during 'play time':

Louise! She is always the first to figure things out. In this case, she figured out how to perch on the edge of the brooder rather than just flinging herself right over like Elda always does.

Mabel figured out the perching thing not long after Louise did:

Mabel has the best expressions for her pictures

And finally, Georgie

ETA: Oh, and for anyone that hasn't seen my past few posts here or was wondering for any other reason, Elda and Kit are Silver Gray Dorkings, Georgie and Louise are Black Copper Marans, and Mabel is a Welsummer.

I think my ovaries just exploded!!!! SOOO CUTE!!! Ok - so what are some tips to help handle, make the chicks so tame?

Three months till Meyers hatch my babies. I don't know if I'll make it!

Plus I'm a little suspicious that one of these boys I hatched might be a girl or at least has low testosterone. Lol. One has shorter tail feathers and skinnier legs. I'm still operating as if he is a male and will continue to try to get a blue ameraucana added to my order. I'll have to get pictures.

At least you have chicks to hold you over till then...I'm staring at an empty brooder

I need some fluffy chicks now! Only 1 month, 2 weeks and 6 days...but who's counting.

Lol...you're right. I'm definitely not as crazed as I was waiting for the first batch. That was a rough wait and I didn't know what to expect.

Oh my gosh! Well, funny thing is, I keep getting asked how I got these babies so tame and I really didn't do anything differently from previous years! Usually just one or two out of a brood are lovey-dovey, and sometimes another will warm up to me as she ages (that's what happened with Frou'f, the Marans in my avatar, and she's now my baby! :love ). These gals are all over me now with little effort on my part to tame them! All I can figure is I picked the right breeds for it. :)

The only thing I would advise you to do is sit with them every day if you can and try to handle them while you're there. You don't want to move too fast or they might shy away as a result, but if you keep it calm and gentle and they don't flee, then try picking them up and letting them sit in your hands or your lap, just to see how they like that. They might hop down at first, but it won't take them long to decide if they like it or not, and before you know it, you might have a bunch of chickies climbing all over you! :D That's what I do, anyway, and it's worked for me thus far!

ETA: Ooooh, I like this post number! :D 5555!

They are so cute! I like watching them grow and feather. I might need a couple more added to my order.
