Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Wow, when you put it all down together, you do have a lot of issues there. Eggs are very important, so I completely understand. I say this while I eat a couple of jumbo Golden Buff eggs!

That's awesome though! So jealous and happy for you at the same time! Come on, hit that order button, you can do it!!

I DID IT!!!!! I want those jumbo Golden Buff eggs

Here's what I ordered ... subject to change of course...

1 Easter Egger
1 Rare Marans Collection Females
1 Salmon Faverolle Female
1 Welsummer Female
1 White Leghorn Female
2 Golden Buff Female

Had to throw an EE in there... I feel like I can never have to many of them. I love how they always look so different!!
Delivery week of 9/9
I kept holding out ordering and then the available dates were shrinking and this was the only date left for all that I wanted so I had to do it!
Hopefully it's not a heat wave that week but I guess it's better than a cold??

I thought it was odd that they state delivery between Tues 9/9 and Thursday 9/11... wasn't it always by Wed delivery or did that change?

They are all so expressive. I love the name Bonnie Blue! Just don't let her ride a pony!
Glad you are trying it, sorry that you can't tell if it is making a difference. I hope it will help!!! It sounds like the problems that your girls have had and the feed recall are too much of a coincidence! There has got to be some connection
I agree! Maybe if you could figure out the exact reason for recall, you could fix it. If it is a vitamin thing, it could take a while to see a difference. I'd hate to think it would take until a molt to see a big improvement but at least you would know what is reasonable to expect.
That is "too much of a coincidence." That must be it! What brand of feed were you using?

I'd love to use an organic feed, but we cannot afford the price. We use Dumor layer crumbles from TSC. So far no problems with it. I want to research feed more, but I am afraid what I might find out since we really can't afford to switch to a more expensive one.

If it was your feed, maybe you'll start seeing improvements, I'd keep them on electrolyte water for awhile too. It makes me mad all these recalls on human and animal food. You put your trust and money in something and it almost kills you or your animals. We need more regulations and checks here.
Here's the info on the feed recall...
http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm393549.htm
It says it was for Washington and Oregon but I don't trust that info at all and it just seems like it was some sort of vitamin thing going on.

I haven't seen Dumor around here. I've been using the Agway feed. Layer feed and starter/grower for younger ones. But I will have to switch them all to the starter/grower as soon as they are all together in the run.
I agree with the organic, way to expensive and there aren't any mills around here to get it ground fresh. We all just do the best we can do.

Awesome! More babies!!

Great selection. Of course, the leghorn and golden buffs will give you the most eggs!

Thanks for posting the recall info. I wonder if you contacted Purina if they would be able to tell you an antidote to the problems you have experienced? I know that you have tried all different types of supplements, but, if they know what was wrong with their feed, they should know how to make it right. Right?

I also use Dumor layer. I like the pellets. I'd love to do organic, but figure supplementing with veggies is a good middle-of-the-road approach. Maybe someday.
That's what I do too. And extra protein a few days a week. Plus a little free ranging. I would think all that helps a bit.

I had 2 leghorns on my list but I really don't want anymore LOUD chickens and I know they can be. So I just went with 1 and added an EE. I was tempted to add another Buff but we'll see...

Can't wait to see the Marans I'll get!!
Good idea about contacting them but since the recall wasn't specific to my area I think they'll just deny it all.

Great selection. Now you did mention something about noisy chickens. Our noisiest chicken is our SF, she is so loud and as my husband says, "she has an ugly voice". Her voice is different then the other chickens and her egg song is not very pretty, to say the least.

It may just be this particular chicken, I like her a lot, she is just so much fun to watch and is very friendly. That is weird about the order date, I thought the same as you.

I love the chicken tunnel, you have a nice setup! Great hubby you have there, he's a keeper!

Everyone's chickens are looking so good!!!

I'm officially at the LESS THAN 1 MONTH WAIT!!!

And yes, I am stalking the Meyer's webpage to see if any Blue laced red Wyandotte females get added for my hatch date...what's one more ;)

Awww, crud. I didn't know they were loud. I just did a quick search and it seems others say the same thing. I know it's really a chicken by chicken thing but I have a few noisy ones and didn't want to add to much to the chaos. Hmmm, maybe I'll be changing my order??
Any suggestions??

How exciting!!!! I looked at them too but not available for my week. I'll keep looking. That would be a nice addition for sure!

Awww what's one more noisy one if you already have a few! But seriously I wanted to get a Salmon Faverolles and decided against it for now because I read the threads about the noisiness and because I didn't want her to get picked on. We live super close to our neighbors so when we move in the next 5 years to some land I'll get three Faverolles and they can have their own little group. Actually I want like three of every breed ;) My Marans which I chose instead of the SF is actually our noisiest right now, she used to sound like she was singing/whistling sweetly now she sounds like a death bird. Oh well.

How about a Buff Orpington? They are sweet, quiet, good layers and their color is beautiful!
