Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Phew!
Finally heard from the seller today. She said she thought she had already contacted me, but she was waiting to mail them till tomorrow because of weather. Oh my goodness! She will send me tracking info tomorrow. :celebrate
That's a long time to wait without hearing anything! Sorry you had to go thru that. Looking forward to some pictures!:)

@trsturself and @autumnhearth Wow! You ladies have my head spinning. You guys are so ahead of me, I feel a little inferior. . .

I think the next time my 18 yr. old daughter accuses me of obsessing about my chickens (which I totally do, can you blame me??), I will pull out your posts and tell her it could get worse! LOL

I hope you find the right balance in your flocks! In the meantime, I will try to keep up!!
LOL. My 17 and 20 yr old boys think I obsess too!! And I do! LOL

Ha, ha you people are so funny!

I'm addicted too, I admit it!

Seems like everyone has great plans. I have a spreadsheet and keep track of the weight of every egg per chicken, so I know who is laying and how big the eggs are. It has helped me determine which breed I would like to get more of which breeds I am planning on staying away from in the future. Also, broodiness, personality, flightiness and health figures into the whole factor too.

I will get more wyandottes, dominiques, RIR's, BO's, Red Sex Links, EE's, Leghorns & Polish

I have mixed feelings about the Barred Rocks & Partridge Rocks due to my BR's not being great layers and my one PR going broody 4 times so far and shes not a year old yet.

I do not want anymore White Rocks since the one I had was too mean.

I also do not want anymore Golden Campines or Blue Andulasions since they are too flighty. I do love the ones I have though.

I kinda have mixed feelings about the Cuckoo Marans since one of mine keeps going broody.

So yeah, I guess I am there with all of you. I also have a want list too of chickens I have never had before.

Okay, I admit it, a little crazy here too.

I like hearing about all the personalities of your chickens. I know they can all be different but I just file it away and keep it in mind when thinking about adding to my flock. My CM never went broody but she died at about 1 yr. old so maybe she would have? My BR never went broody and is just such a sweetie but lays soft shelled eggs most days. I wonder if one day it will cause her problems and end up killing her.

My BR is one of my best layers. I get 5-6 eggs a week from her. My PR is skittish and an ok layer, I don't know if I'd get another.
I'm with you on the campines and andalusians - too flighty

The only chicken I've had go broody is my cochin, which are known for it. It's crazy you've had so many breeds go broody.

Here's my chicken board. http://www.pinterest.com/trsturself/chickens/
Thanks for sharing... nice!!

Love your pics :)

Oh thank goodness!! That was awful for you each day I'm sure but at least they will be shipping now and it's cooler!

Ha ha they're not that great. I also use a calendar for my gardening/ planting and put key chicken things on that calendar too. I am a little obsessive, but I am much more forgetful so that is why I keep track of things.

This is my egg count/weight sheet. I have it printed until the end of the year and just write down in pencil each day. It is not correct all the time since it is hard to tell which hen lays each white egg since most white eggs basically look the same.

Here is a screen shot of the basic info of each breed and their names, how many eggs, broodiness potential etc. All the basic stuff on the Meyer website and more related to my chickens.

One of my BR's lays more then the other and they are such sweet chickens too that's why the feelings are mixed. They are great chickens to have with kids too.

I love your pinterest board, so neat! I am just trying to figure it our myself. That's a neat idea to put the chickens you want on there.

That is awesome news!!! So happy for you!

Lovely as ever! You're getting close to the "half way to eggs" mark for them now!
Love the spread sheets! I think my family would officially commit me if they saw me doing that.. I'd have to sneak it

I know!!  They have all the breeds I want this week but I'm really not ready yet... but so tempted.

I try to look at it this way. I will never be ready for most things I do. But I am able to do great things! Incredible things!! So I do it anyways.... Then I'm forced to make it happen!
But really patience is good.. Don't learn from my bad habits of impulsive reactions....... Or just do it! And then have great story's to tell us later! Being responsible is sooo overrated right? Lol!

Love this! That is so how my brain works!

Has anyone received exchequer leghorns from meyer? I have 2 about ten weeks old and they are the most friendly chicks I have ever had! They are constantly underfoot and seem to actually like to be picked up. All my others at this stage are doing all they can to keep away from me. I love it! But I'm confused. These are my first leghorns and I almost did not get them because everyone said they are flighty high strung birds. Wondering if any one here has had good experance with them?
