Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Hello guys...

My USPS status says that my order left the transport station close to me at 7:53am, and said guaranteed delivery by 3pm. I have never had that happen with my orders before, I've always got a call first thing in the morning to come and get the chickys. So it leaves me wondering if they are going to sit on some truck somewhere until they make it to my post office in the morning, or they will be getting to the post office this afternoon sometime. I think I am going to go down there and find out what they know. Who needs them sitting on a truck overnight. .and won't that get hot!

Also I have a question for those of you with Exchequer Leghorns, do any of you have them in cold weather climates? I know they are a Mediterranean breed, and was wondering if they could survive winters in mid New York State area. I am 90 miles north of NYC... so not like Buffalo, but still cold nonetheless. Also, how are their personalities? Wondering if they are super skittish.

Tick, tock, Tick, tock. Tick tockkkkkkkkkk

Come on little box... arrive at my house!!!!!!!!!!!!

My post office was terrible! I called the day they shipped to let them know, then on the day they we're "scheduled" to arrive. They hadn't come in but I was assured I'd get a call. Nothing. I called a few more times the next morning (I'm sure I bugged the heck out of them) but was consistently told "Oh, we DID have some birds come in, but they're not yours". Turns out they we're left on my porch....mid-January...no knock, no call (Thank goodness Hubbs was home and heard the peeping from the living room).
I don't think that's the norm though...

Meyer Salmon Favorelle hatched May 27. Crows every morning for me now. Was supposed to be a pullet... Oh well.

I have 4 total and 2 of the pullets are darker than usual. They say that's normal coming from a hatchery.

I love the way the roos look!
I'm a tad jealous!

I couldn't find any Salmon Faverolles on Meyer, at least for the past month or so.
After checking them and breeders, I had to end up ordering from Ideal

They're closer though, so a faster transit for our hot summer...

Well here is a little top view of the new 6 fuzzy balls. They are going to share the brooder with my week old EE I hatched out and my 3 week old black Isbar chick that was my only hatchling from 7 shipped eggs. The two older ones were actually frightened to death when I lowered the little ones in. The Meyer 6 started gobbling up crumble right away! 3 Buckeye, 2 Olive Eggers, and one Golden Buff
So sweet!

Text message from USPS says my peepers are in town !!!!

I had to order from Ideal this time, for a few reasons. I'm hoping their EEs are comparable to Meyer's...
I was really happy with their colors (and customer service). I have a really nice Buff Orp from there too.
But I have 2 EEs, 2 Black Australorps, 2 Salmon Faverolles, and 2 Russian Orloffs shipping the 27th!

That's where my feed store buys from... I got 2 EE's from there, a White Silkie (still don't know male or female) and my 2 Cream Brabanters.

Not a good pic but that's my 2 EE's on left at 12 weeks old. I can get an updated pic. They're 16 weeks old now

We finally got confirmation that all of our Meyer's girls are laying! They are all about 25 weeks now. I wasn't sure about my speckled sussex, but on Monday we had 9 eggs (from 10 layers). We think the SS egg is a little pinker than the Buffs & Dominiquer, but they are so close in color, I couldn't be sure. My only confirmation was that I got 4 brown eggs in a day (2 Buffs, 1 Dominique & 1 SS).

My skelter is now so colorful!!!!

I wouldn't mind one like that :) I love that blue-ish one. I don't have any blue in my flock :/

My babies are here! I've been with them for about an hour. I cannot tell the difference between the SS and wellie. There are three that do not look great. The Ex leghorn is probably the worst of the three. She has not eaten yet. Everyone else seems ok. I will take pictures once everyone perks up.

Good luck!

By the way, I couldn't catch up on everyone's, but thanks everyone for the sympathies for Pearl.
And I'm sorry for the recent losses

including the chicks.

We used Pearl's last egg last night for brownies. She was so sweet, I thought it was appropriate.

Here are the 5 Fry Pan Bargain boys that survived the trip - one was DOA. The black one looks very much like my Marans pullets, but as you can see, he is clean legged.

And these are the Marans girls - the one on the left has real attitude! It was almost impossible to get her picture - because she was EVERYWHERE !
They need appropriate french names !
So I'm guessing the black one may be either a Dominique or a Black Austrolorp. The two that have some amber to them - Golden Buffs? And the mottles one a Wyandotte? (These are Fry Pan Bargain - so no ID)

Beautiful. I hope my maran lays eggs that dark. I've got awhile to wait though. I think our big girls are in mourning for Marble. I haven't gotten an egg from any of them since that day. :(

It looks like a BA. The dominique is barred so it would have a dot on it's head like the BR.

Bummer about the roo and the coloring. That is another reason I decided not to get a SF with our first batch. I would love to have a few of them, as I love their creamy peach colored eggs and their white fluffy faces, but that's one breed where for whatever reason the term "hatchery quality" is actually true :( The other reason is I feared they would be more noisy. But three french hens from a breeder will be in my future. Still very interesting looking birds, how are yours disposition? Hope the pullets lay you lovely eggs!
I wish you lived closer and could take our noisy SF, she is the cutest thing but so loud!

Any body with any Austra Whites out there with any pictures of adults.. Would just like to see what they look like at 20 weeks or older.

I am considering adding 3 Golden Campine to my last shipment due Sept 2nd. I have 3 White Marans coming at that time.

See if all you guys lived close I'd have someone to take my extras, I have a Golden Campine that I'd be glad to give away. She's beautiful, but likes to fly a little too much.

Sorry that you lost one, I hope the others are doing well now. They are adorable, congrats!

Mine arrived this morning! I did not look over my order very closely. Somehow I ended up with 20 chicks! That's three more than I expected..... Darn chicken math! But for the first time ever I had no DOAs and all look healthy and well.
YAY!!! Wow, 20? They were very generous with your order!

I love this picture, they all look so happy on their tree branches too. Such a variety pack you have there!

Beautiful!! Love the dark egg too!! It's nice to finally fill it up!!

Great! I hope that they all improve!!
