Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Yep was a child competitive gymnast, I would warn anyone who has children who want to be a gymnast, don't let them! At least not competitively, it is sooooo hard and damaging to a young child's still developing body.
Thank you, haven't seen you for a bit. Hope your well, or maybe I missed your posts.

Hey gang,

So I am looking to streamline a few things for the flock to help make it easier on my boyfriend for my surgery in a couple weeks, So looking at waterers and dealing with that in below 0 temps. I am curious if anyone on here has experience with the horizontal nipples?

If so, how did they do I the freezing cold, did they freeze?

Did you use them with a bucket?

Did you get submersible heater for the bucket to keep from freezing? If so which brand did you use?

Right now I am leaning towards the horizontal nipples (as I have heard the nipples don't freeze like the vertical ones can), with a bucket system and a submersible heater/de-icer. Will set up three waterers possibly. Any feedback would've greatly appreciated.

Will be installing several PVC style feeders as well,so we can maybe fill the feeders one once a week or so.

Thanks!

Edited because my grammar sucked! Lol
I came across this while I was searching for solutions to frozen water too. There is a link to Mother Earth News too on the same page, thought that the page might be helpful to you too.

Thank you, I have seen most of those ideas. I am going to go with horizontal nipples with a bucket system including a submersible heater. Been conversing with several people on those and they don't freeze like the vertical nipples do. I am excited as it a project I can do by myself.

If you have not figured it out by now, I am pretty easy to please. I hope everyone's chickens are doing well and also your homes too and families of course.

We are all pretty easy to please aren't we?

The reintroduction of Morgaine and Victoria went very well this morning. Victoria got pecked by Clara who was and still is directly above her, Amelia who is the only one below her didn't try anything. Morgaine hung out at the door of the coop for awhile, Victoria came up the ramp to stand next to her, then layed down at her feet, it was sweet. Baby who is second in command came up the ramp to see her and got gentle pecked on the head a few times but graciously bowed to her. It wasn't until Morgaine hopped down under the coop to eat that Clara questioned her presence and Morgaine jumped on her. She had to do it two more times, then went around to make everyone knew she was still the boss. Then all was well. The B is back! She and Victoria were hesitant to turn in this evening so I picked Morgaine up and placed her on the perch and set Victoria next to her, they immediately snuggled close and everyone else fell into place :)

I guess we are.

Glad to hear that the reintroduction went well and the pecking order was maintained. It's so nice when everything gets back to normal, isn't it?

@trsturself I hope things are looking better for you and you guys are getting all your problems resolved after the flood?

Still waiting to hear from insurance on their estimate. Had a company come out and give us an estimate so we have leverage against the insurance company. Their estimate was $60K!
