Meyer hatchery reviews???

I ordered from them. I decided to make some changes after I ordered and they had amazing customer service. My chicks all arrived healthy in 2 days.
Wow wish my experience had been that great. Had to be sent replacement chicks. They sent 16 chicks. 1 1/2 weeks later I have 3 left. Pretty bad odds. Few that lived from previous order not really all that great either. Meyer customer service was great but that doesn’t keep chicks alive!

Oh no! We had 15 the first order and the first week we had 2 that didn’t make it and one of the barred rock pullets was a rooster. I sent a message and they sent out lmrwxplaysmsnds

My GLWs are from Meyers. They came on time and were huge healthy chicks. Hatched on June 11th. Out of the 10 pullets, 2 turned out to be cockerels. I was still very pleased. One of them just started laying on November 3rd.

I am so sorry this happened to you, and I know exactly how you felt because I am having the same situation right now. Out of the 17 chicks I ordered, I have 6 left and even these I am not sure if they will survive. I got them 8 days ago. For me, never Meyer hatchery again.
Did the 3 remaining chicks survive?

I don't know what the deal was, but I ordered four chicks from My Pet Chicken and the shipping info said they came from Meyer Hatchery. All four arrived dead, and they looked a bit like their necks were twisted around. I'm waiting for MPC to call me about when they'll be able to ship out new chicks. Having come here, I think I'm going to speak up and ask them if there are hatchery issues that could have caused this. I'm really sad about these poor baby chicks.

First experience ordering chicks and decided to go with Meyer's after reading reviews and doing some research. Have to say I am so happy with the decision! Chicks are 1 week old today - ordered 9 mixed breeds, lost one approx. 4 hours after shipping (was dying on arrival), shipment took about 36 hours. All are eating and drinking well, active, and healthy. Had an issue with overly aggressive behavior in our Speckled Sussex and again in our Golden Laced Wyandotte, but has since resolved after a 4 day stint in Juvie and their 1 week milestone ;)

Customer service was incredible! When reporting the loss of our chick they were helpful and understanding, and allowed me to choose between refund, credit, or replacement. We opted for replacement, and with a 3 chick minimum I am only being charged for the 2 additional chicks but not shipping (YAY!).

All chicks should be females but only time will tell with that one - they do have a 100% sexing guaranteed but hopefully we won't have to cross that bridge. Fingers crossed all goes as well with the 3 replacements coming next week.

I don't have experience with other hatcheries, but my experience with Meyer's has been nothing but positive.

I have ordered from them 5 times from 2011 until now and I have to say that their prices are still great and they seem to be working towards a more varied selection. They didn't have SG Dorkings before now they do and they are offering some of the more rare colors in the different breeds. Lots of variety. That said definitely try and get your orders in by January. I did one order at the end of winter and went back to look and do another and a lot of the chicks are already sold out until the end of fall which for me in the North East is not the time to get new baby chicks. I have currently got an order coming in between today and the 11th. I will post pictures once I get them but I have to say I have been happy so far. Their customer service has always been great and I have never had a dead bird from them.

I think I am going to order from Meyer. Anybody order from them and have good/bad reviews?
I have ordered from Meyer Hatchery, last year about this time. They have great customer service! Also a great selection! When I received my chicks, some of them appeared to be weak and within two days five of my eight chickens died. I was so upset and just watching them slowly lose their strength and wake up in the morning and find them dead just took a lot out of me. I am a real animal lover so it was very upsetting. They send the chicks with a heat pack and as I recall the box was not warm even though I received the chicks within 24 hours. I wanted more chickens so I ended up getting one Buff Orpington from my feed store and then I ended up talking to customer service because I really didn’t want to go through that again and they assured me that that does not always happen, so I went ahead and let them send me four more chicks the following week. This time the box was warm on the bottom and my chicks all seemed strong! They all made it and so now I have eight total, seven from Myers and one from my feed store. I have photos of them all in my album, they have just turned one years old or are about to turn one year old. I am so happy with them and I think they really turned out beautiful! Maybe not show birds, but I just look at them for hours every day and they are so entertaining!

I'm in the Northeast as well, and placed my order in January when I read that chick's sell out quickly! I wanted to be sure I got the breeds I wanted as well as set our chick's up for success when the cold weather arrives.
