my three chicks were shipped out Monday (express 1day shipping) estimated time of arrival is 3pm today, however, the shipment tracking hasn’t been updated since yesterday and it states that they arrived at the Cleveland facility and are in transit. I do not want any DOAs and am super stressed about this.

What have your experiences been with Meyer hatchery shipping?

I am INCREDIBLY disappointed. Not only is the tracking not updating (it still says EOA is 3pm today when it is already 4pm), but it is impossible to get a hold of anyone at the local USPS offices. I have called both offices and an automated menu line is all I’m greeted with. There are no options for talking to an actual human being.

I’m sure they’re fine. Meyer can’t update the shipping status. That’s done (or more often, *not* done) by the USPS. I’ve heard bad things, though, about USPS services in CA. Again, not Meyer’s fault. USPS is the only option if you’re shipping live chicks. It’s good they’re expected early in the week. Keep on top of it, and never order chicks or hatching eggs for an expected arrival date on or near the weekend.

We got our chicks from Meyer's and for our location one-day shipping was not an option. They are in Ohio and we are in Missouri. We ordered very early in the spring and weather was a factor. I was amazed to learn that they can live off their yolks for three days! They were shipped with some kind of little heat bricks that kept them warm. I would say that unless heat is a factor in your area, they should do okay. Try not to panic. Also remember that, even though it's distressing to have losses, Meyer's is a reputable firm and they will either ship you replacements or reimburse you for your losses. Good luck! :hugs

I've shipped chicks that were delivered to the buyer's door. Not advised.
Most of the time the USPS uses a secondary vendor for shipping. Those vendors don't have the ability to scan and update the USPS tracking site. That's why you don't get updates.
I like to call the sorting room early (about 5AM) the day of delivery to see if they are there yet. You have to get that number from your postmaster in advance. It isn't a published number.
