Meyer Hatchery Video - Worth Watching :)

Well I cant speak for this hatchery but I do know that Cackle hatchery gives birds to people that have approved coops and accomodations for laying hens. They make the breeders sell them eggs for a year and then give them the laying hens for whatever they want to do with them. So I would probably say as long as the breeders are humane and responsible they wouldn't have a problem with treatment of the breeding hens. I honestly considered breeding for them but I like my eggs too much to sell them all to the hatchery when I can just buy from them instead.

I was just about to post this

They are my favorite hatchery. I just drive down and get what I need.

I agree. They were very clean and nice on the video, but no sight of the layers. Makes me happy we have the old incubator. They are right at home from the start. Of course we had to ship in some of our starter eggs and some of them were scrambles...

, but now we can cross our favorites from several different breeds in our own coop. Hmmm I wonder is chicken temperaments are a inherited trait:idunno

How nice of them to provide a video. Sure I'd like to see the breeding stock "living quarters" as well. But - their product is chicks, so of course the chicks and packing/shipping is what they're showing.

this was the closest hatchery to me and i decided to drive up with my dad instead of paying shipping and have heard bad things about shipping baby chicks lol never again 3and a half hour trip there about 6hrs all together probly used twice the shipping fee in gas but all 10 of my babysilkys are healthy havent lost 1 yet they 69days old and out in coop with our big chickens and doing great 1 of them even roost witch ive heard silkys dont do
