meyer hatchery

I ordered 4 buff orps, and 2 white leg horns and added the "meal maker" that was free. I was thinking that it was some kind of recipe guide or something but it turns out they give you a free additional chick, which happened to be another white leghorn with a promise that you'll donate the meat from the bird or eggs. I was planning to donate eggs to a local food ministry we have here anyway! So win win! They are all about 2 weeks old now and are fiesty and healthy!

I ordered once from meyer - my first chickens a number of years ago. All were supposed to be females, 1 out of 7 was a cockerel. They got lost in mansfield somewhere for a day and when they arrived they were a bad shape and I had some fatality. But that was probably flaw of the postal service, for the replacements came fine.

The birds are of a hatchery quality. I would not order from a hatchery again, but that is my own personnel opinion. The hatchery seemed to be pretty good though.

This time of year the Hatcheries normaly struggle to fill the Foo-Foo bird orders so it is very common to have them drop shipped from other hatcheries regardless of location. Placing an order in the late winter for spring delivery is the best bet when dealing with the "Walmart" chick industry. All of the hatcheries private egg contractors gear their season in the spring when their flocks are laying heavy and can fill the hatcheries quotas for hatching egg's....................... Only the hatching is done at the hatcheries thus the name, the birds come from contractors that live within 100 mi and can deliver X amount of hatchable eggs regardless of the quality of the laying stock.

My pet chicken is not a hatchery, they drop ship from Meyer. Lots of people order from MPC because they advertise there 3 minium a lot unlike Meyer, which also has a 3 chick minium. So if you want to pay less order from Meyer.
