I got some chicks from Meyers back in April and one of the breeds I ordered were the Buff Orpingtons and I got them because I wanted a broody breed. I was just wanting to know if anyone else has had good luck with there broody breed hatchery chickens going broody?

And I know that my girls arent to that age yet they aren't even close to laying yet I was just wanting to know if I have a good chance at them going broody or not

I have several buffs and yes they do go broody, Mine are a 1 1/2 old now and I have to kick them off the nest on most days. very good girls.

Yep, I only buy hatchery chicks, I have a a poultry farm and sell eggs only. I have over 100 hens and 20 ducks. I will increase my flock next year to double that.

Darn! Love Orpingtons, got 4 & one started laying waiting on the other 3 (26wks) I'm hoping & praying they don't go broody but if they do out comes the wire cage :fl

The broodiness is why I got them I wanted at least 1 broody breed

Got a Buff Orpington from them last January as a meal maker along with 12 others. My French Blk Copper Marans went broody @7 months old after laying for a month, lol and my 1 1/2 year old Australorp went broody twice already.
