Meyer's "make a meal" mystery chick

If you check the box for the free "make a meal" chick with a Meyer order, can it be literally anything they have? Including bantams or boys? I was hesitant to check the box because I can't have roos where I live but now I am kind of wishing I had and thinking about calling them to add it on to my order.

My experience is when you order the meyer extra chick with a group of CXs it shows up as another CX.

They are supposed to give you the same kind that you ordered.... if you ordered female layers you should get a pullet. If you ordered meat birds, you'd get a meat bird. Mine (from my order in May) was a black jersey giant pullet.

I have a hatch date of 9/28 -- think it's too late to add one on? I guess the worst they can say is no, right?

You can still do it I bet! If you ordered mostly pullets you should get another pullet.

Meyers is a decent hatchery, but figure in advance that a "free, make-a-meal" chick is gonna be male. It's a matter of economics ... and females sell.
