Ok my dad is freaking out because the incubator he thinks is too high it's a still air okay so the incubator keeps going from 100.2 100.4 back to 100.2 humidity is 48 is that okay or am I killing his quail. I know it's still incubator needs to be higher and I know still incubators fluctuate like you said but is 100.5 and then it goes down to 100.2 48 humidity. Sometimes some humidity goes higher sometimes it goes lower is this normal he thinks I'm killing his eggs I need to reassure him can you reassure me please
I've used a couple of still air incubators and I never went over 100.5. If you have multiple thermometers and you place them around your incubator to map out hot and cold spots it will give you a better idea of what to set your temperature at. You're still looking for an average of 99.5 overall but because there isn't air movement in a still air you sometimes have to set the thermostat a little higher and just avoid setting eggs at the hottest points. OR my favorite thing to do to offer more consistent hatches is to rotate the eggs around the incubator daily so that there aren't eggs that are constantly sitting in hot or cold spots.
