MGG's Hatching Thread!

Pics
It's ok! Pipping in the wrong location isn't a death sentence. It just happens sometimes, most of the time they hatch without issue and occasionally they require a little assist if they get stuck while rotating while zipping. Upsidedown pips mean that the chick is malpositioned but it already got through the hardest part when malpositioned, and that's to pip. A chick that doesn't pip through the air cell is making both the internal and external pip in one go so it's not unusual for them to take longer to hatch. Your chick does not appear to be trying to zip yet, it's just a pip so I doubt that it's ready for hatch. I hope the little one pulls through for you. :fl

On a side note, I'm not necessarily suggesting this but since I'm about to go to bed I just wanted to put this out there. If you were to assist this chick you would be going in through the air cell and applying antibiotic ointment with a q-tip to the membrane to keep it from drying out. It will also make the membrane translucent so you can see whether the blood vessels have been absorbed. That's how you can see whether or not the chick is ready. You would have to be very careful in trying to help around the pip location because there are a lot of blood vessels since it's upsidedown. If the bubbles were clear fluid I think there may still be too much fluid in the egg, if they were red-ish then it's possible it was from pipping through a blood vessel to begin with.
Thank you so much I will keep my eye on the little one and see what happens from there fingers crossed thank you so much

I had to help I didn't like it I was so nervous.
