Mhp and see/no touch brooder

Hi all! I have 4 BO chicks (5-7 days old) today I made a mama heating pad broody box and put them in the open air coop. (they are in a large wire crate so safe from older birds)
I have kept an eye on them since I put them out, and in about 2 hours they haven't gone under the MHP. They seem to be enjoying a mild day out (about 60 degrees) I put them under it a few times so they would know where warmth is, but they are more interested in playing .
They are not huddling together or making distressed peeps. Should I just keep watching them & tuck them in at night?

That’s all I’d do. We’re they under a heat lamp or a MHP until now? If they had the MHP before, they should be fine for sure- if they had a heat lamp, it may take a bit for them to get used to the new heat source and I’d watch closer

They had a heat lamp and were in the garage.

Just make sure they go under the MHP tonight. You may have to hold your hand in front of them for a few minutes, so they feel the warmth and stay underneath.

I put their food part way under and they figured it out before I went to tuck them in for the night. they made a snuggly chick pile in the back corner of the MHP box.

They are still tucked in under the MHP, but I hear cute little chirps coming from the box. it sounds like everyone else is starting to come out of the coop(I have a sleepy rooster lol he crows about an hour after the sun comes up- something my husband really appreciates! ) so I will go and check on them again soon.

They are quite happy and hoppy with their new digs. I think I am going to trim the broody box down a bit to give them more room, I know they will out grow this space quickly!

Can't really see the MHP....why is it in a box?
