Mice, moles, snakes

Are

you asking me or op? If your asking me, no bait I've tried has worked. Tried eggs, cheese, chicken feed, bird seed, sausage chunks. I tried them with snap traps and live traps, no luck.
I was asking the OP.
I only use cashews as bait. I fit a cashew perfectly in the trap center so that it doesn't pop out. Works every time for me. I live in a 100+ year old house so I get lots of mice in the house if winter is going to be cold that year (last month I caught 32 mice in my basement... it is going to be a cold winter in Wisconsin this year). I have also caught mice in a detached garage and the three rats that have dared to walk into that garage.

Where are you located? Typically they are most active at night. You might have several of either rats or mice. I would identify what type of rat or mouse it is so you can better understand how to eliminate them. I have roof rats

I would place the traps where you see feces or urine.

:welcome :frow There are safe ways to use poison if you ever decide to go that route but I would try traps first making sure your birds can't get to them either. Good luck...
Thank you however I will not use poison because of outside cats neighbors cats are always here and I have one that goes out to do his business may catch a mouse and comes back in. I HAVE TRIED TRAPS NO LUCK YET. I did finally catch the big black snake that was eating my eggs he is now over 5 feet long. I am sure he will find his way back zi took him for a walk up over the mountain!!!!

I USE THE PLUG INS in the house they work wonderful Walmart 6 units for like $13.00 have not had one in my house in over 10 years now they do have to be replace every to every other year but so far so good. But I am leary of plugging them in the coop for fear it may harm my girls.

I use to use those before I got dogs. I still ended up with a few mice in the basement. I know the box says the plug ins are safe for family and household pets but I have also found other sites that contradict that statement so I just go with the old school and use traps with cashews.

I live in Laurel Highlands of PA. And winters are sometimes really cold and lots of snow. My problem is not in my house its in my chicken coop. I had a field mouse when tending to my hens climb right up my leg is snatched it quick and snapped its neck. I hate them they brought mites into my coop ugh!

I have a mystery, I have various sized holes in my chicken yard, from 1 inch up to about 3 inches in size. No mound of dirt around them, such as a rodent digging to make the hole. I have seen mice scurrying when I come out to close the chicks in, but they certainly don't make that big of hole. How do I get rid of the animal that makes the holes without hurting my birds?

It sounds like you will need to add a barrier to digging around your run, soonest. Setting up a game camera would be interesting, and helpful, if possible.
And, one of these days a weasel will find your entrances to your run, and that won't be good.
Ground squirrels and rats are likely culprits here.
