I noticed that our local Michael's craft store has lost the display that is usually the first one in the main door.

The one that holds all of the current holiday decor items. Things like "Welcome" signs etc.

I just got done changing a couple of things on the picket fences at my moms and wanted to stop in and pick up a couple of outdoor seasonal signs. Not a one in the whole store. I walked around a bit while wasting a few minutes waiting for my son to get off work at a different business. I had not thought too much of it when I stopped to see if they had discount 4th of July stuff a few weeks ago, but still nothing.

Also, the front end of the store with the cash registers has a new layout, seems lots of new staff too.

Did they sell and change owners? Anyone know?

Ours redid thier register layout about 6 weeks ago, now there's a "fence" of displays to funel you to the checkout. I suspected the change was to prevent shoplifting (only way out isto walk thru the checkout line). TBH I haven't gone back since, i'm not fond of the feeling like a felon when all i need is a bottle of glitter for the kids art projects.

The funnel line thing would not bother me so much since it SHOULD make waiting quicker.

However the frozen computer system and new staff meant we waited 20 minutes for $2 worth of elastic.

Guess other than yarn, not much reason to go back for now, sounds like it is a chain wide "upgrade"

my wife used to work at michaels in rock hill, sc. she quit last year when we got married and moved to ohio. i hope we move to SC soon! I love it there!
