Okay peeps, listen up.

As many have expressed interest in a northern MI CS thread I figured someone ought to start a thread about it. A couple other Michiganders are looking into some places up here along I-75, Grayling seems to be mentioned a lot so far. But I won't name anyone, because this ought to be a volunteer thing so I'll just link this thread over in MI and let them pop over and tell you about what they've found out themselves.

I don't know for sure yet but I fear August might be hard to rent anything on a weekend, but perhaps after labor day might be easier. Still warm up here in September in case you southerners were afraid.

And here is Silly Chicken's thread about next year's MI CS for more ideas

I will maintain this thread and post a response immediately to keep things we have decided up front.

First decision, what do we call it? CS North? or Opa's suggestion of Fall Fowl Follies? Or was that Fowl Fall Follies?

Remember we want something we can talk about without looking too weird to outsiders. (or do we really care?)

Of course I will help in any way I can.  So one said something at Chickenstock about picking my brain. I must warn you that it is liable to be slim pickings.

I'm going to be at a dog show on Aug 11-12 and Sept 8-9 so I'll have to wait to volunteer anything until a date is picked.

Grayling is pretty far north, my only concern is if it's during the school year, southern people might think it's too far to travel and if it's too soon many will already have plans. It's only 2.5 hours from me so I don't mind, I'm just thinking of the turnout. But, location is 100% up to the people organizing this because they're the ones putting in all the hard work

I am here in Lake George west of Harrison, maybe we should have it in West Branch nice park and out of the way with a very nice shallow clear cold stream, and lots of trees. But for me it don't matter because either place is not all that far. I vote for Opa's idea Fall Fowl Follies, and no I don't care what people think because they already think I am the Crazy Chicken Lady or so my kids tell me, brats.

Lansing was 3.5 hours for me, and longer for taprock and 1muttsfan. I figure wherever and whenever we pick it'll be harder for some than others, can't be helped. But I figure there's no sense in having one that close to Lansing again just to be sure all the southerners can make it, then there'd be no point in calling it an up north kind of chickenstock. Don't kids still have Saturday's off in this state?

Kimmie, could you be point person and find out how much it would cost to rent a pavilion there, if there are any saturdays available from mid- late september? I've looked at a map and i'ts a little harder to get to for those coming up 127, they'd have to jog over to 75 via a side road or two, but hey, we're all kind of used to that right? Except for those Detroit weenies, they're just used to traffic jams.

Location may just depend on what's available anyway. If there are multiple spots available maybe we could make a Poll.

I, personally, couldn't care less where it is, I don't mind the 2.5 hour drive to Grayling. I was just pointing out that it would be disappointing to put in all the time and effort for only a handful of members to be able to make it, thats all. And yes, kids do have Saturdays off school but that doesn't mean getting them up and out of the house at 4am after Friday night games will be easy

This is great....doesn't matter to me where it is.... Grayling, Gaylord, West Branch, St.Helen where ever. As for the date it doesn't matter to me we'll attend as long as we're not scheduled to horse show or have some family "must go" commitment. If a date & place is set well enough in advance, we can do a rsvp request with a deadline. If only a handful reply I think the only thing we'd be out is the deposit....some require a small amount others a larger....it would be a gamble I guess.

I agree

.....set a date and see what you can get then people can decide. I also like Fall Fowl Fest. should be different they CS so as not to confuse the 2 whey chatting.
