Michigan Hatchers! What'cha got cookin?

Broody is due to hatch her three this Thursday. We wanted to peek last night, but thought we should probably leave her alone since this is her first hatch. She has been growling and is not leaving the nest. I hope all three hatch for her, this waiting is nerve wracking! I was worried DH may jerk his hand worried about her pecking him when he had an egg in his hand and cracking it by accident. Broody is a Delaware and she is in a brooder coop by herself.

The incubator has 6 "clears" and one blood ring which leaves 30 looking good at day 10. This Sunday we will check them all before lock down.

Hope everyone else is having success?

My Wyandotte broody is doing a fantastic job with her 10 babies. My bad silkie broody has decided to co-mother with the other one that hatched a chick the same time she did, and the other 2 bad Broodies are no longer broody. Not putting the killer Ameraucana in the pen with the 10 chicks until they are a bit bigger. Not risking them.

I'm going to bleach out the incubator today and set around 20 OE and Marans eggs. My lone remaining Ameraucana in that pen is a horrible layer, so getting olive eggers out of her is going to be just about impossible and I don't want poor laying genetics in my birds anyway. The hens in this pen are under the BCM I got from Wynette and he's supposed to have good egg color genes and he's huge so hopefully I'll get some decent sized cockerels for the table come fall.

Candy442,
I felt the same way when my broody was hatching chicks. On day 19, I could hear peeping. Then on day 20 while I was at work, I could not wait to get home to see how it went! She hatched all 4 while I was gone ;-) it was SO exciting!!!
Good luck!!!

I hear peeping under our broody!!! We peeked under her and the little one is kicking it's way out! :) Hard to not keep looking for a little head looking back at us. It is the Iowa Blue egg hatching. The other two are EE/Ameraucana. Iowa's are typically early :)

I did not see a pip on the other two and day 21 is tomorrow.

Lucky is doing pretty good. He (I think its a he) is still small compared to the others, but doing very good. Here is a pic.
