Michigan Hatchers! What'cha got cookin?

I hear ya glad, the more you hatch the less obsessed you are, man your pretty busy to..

for the spiked temp, just depend how long that spike was, you have to remember its the intercore of the eggs that has to heat up to the high temp, not just the outside of the egg. so i am betting your pretty safe unless its been spiked for a really long period of time, like a day or so

Hi everyone, i know i said i was done, but a friend of mine got a new still air incubator and had to failed hatches. so i brought it home to see how the temp and turner is working, well it is working great, he was using the thermometer that came with it, and was incubating his eggs at 95 degrees if he hasnt touched the dial. plus i got 4 new 1 yr old hens and a rooster for free yesturday.. one of the hens and the rooster are cornish cross, they are huge and 1 yrs old, i got 4 eggs today from them, so i put them in the incubator.. curious to see if the huge rooster is mating or not.. will know soon, plus to see how my friend incubator works through a whole hatch if they are fertile..

I am hoping they are fertile, i just have 5 eggs,

hens breeds are dominique, cornish cross, black sexlink, rir.. and roo is cornish cross..

WHOA a - year - old CX rooster?! Can you post a picture of him? He must be the size of a Saint Bernard by now.

Today is day 18 for incubator chicks/eggs. They went into lockdown this morning. I candled, and had 2 infertiles. So I put a container with wet paper towel where the vacancy was from the 2 eggs. Hopefully I won't have the humidity issue this time like I did last time.
My BO hen who was broody just this past spring is broody again!
Is this normal? I thought only silkies did this...
I gave her 9 eggs last night. I hope she doesn't quit on me. Did did such a great job before! Hatched 4 beautiful chicks!

Day twenty for me with another hatch of shipped heritage Delaware eggs. Hope I at least get some.

Came home from work Friday and look what I found. She hatched 2 out of 4 eggs, 1 was an early quitter and 1 disappeared she must have ate it. The odd thing is I gave her 3 Leghorn eggs and 1 ??? 2 of the Leghorns didn't hatch and I had also put 3 leghorn eggs in incubator and none hatched. My Leghorns must not be very hardy, they all were fertile and started to develop but only 1 actually hatched. This hen is a Cuckoo Marans X laced breed possible Wyandotte.

Uhm so I guess today is day 17 or 18 since I didn't write it down. Should probably candle and take the turner out today. Hahahahaha

How many eggs are "cooking"?
I think you and I are due to hatch about the same day if I remember right. I'm on day 18 today, and turned off auto turner already, and increased humidity...
Good luck! Keep us up to date :)
