Finally managed to candle eggs. I have 8 OE and 8 BCM left out of the 24. Everything I discarded was from the first week of gathering, and it was hard to see into all of them. The 'clears' were obvious. Hoping for 4 or 5 of each to hatch.

Just thought I would join this thread! I've had one successful broody hatch this spring already (EE x silky) and I have two broody hens sitting right now. One is on day 11 with a batch of sizzle eggs I ordered and I need to candle tonight and see how things are looking! She is sitting so well on the eggs that I'm not worried about her hatching skills. The verdict is still out on my other broody. She is on day 4 with a clutch of silky eggs from my silky pair and sat ok for the first two days but then apparently decided that her nest was too small. She kicked out six eggs and stood next to the rest.

I set her up with a bigger nest and she's sitting again but she doesn't look as thrilled about it as the other. Lol. Crossing my fingers she didn't goof those eggs up.

Well, my family came home last night. Lots of noise in incubator, but no fuzzy butts yet. As of 6am no body had shown their face. At 830am my hubby called and thought we had a chicken in the house somewhere.
We did, sort of... One LOUD chick made a grand entry

Have 2 pips! One OE and BCM. I have everyone divided (hardware cloth divider inside the incubator) up so I can hopefully band who is who and not get them mixed up since they're sure to look the same: black.

Delaney any chicks under your broody yet..

I check my eggs in the bator last night, just a couple and there is veining for sure.. plus see the big cornish cross mate a hen last night. so he is active, so count me in for hatching eggs this month. its day 4.

Any ideas? Is this fatal? What is it and how would I fix it?

Up to 2 olive eggers and the first Marans just hatched as well. Hoping to wake up to a few more chicks in the morning. Hoping is the key since nothing else is pipped.
