Dealing with older hen, was free ranging. She gets pecked on by other hens. So stays in sheep shelter at night. Nasty tumor like wound appeared over yesterday, at first I thought it was vent prolapse, now I think it is not on the vent, probably egg bound. And flystrike. Tried soaking in salt water, applying betadine, and thick coating of diotomacious earth last night, but worse this morning. Nothing more I can do for her. Was looking at a post last night, others were suggesting honey for vent prolapse related infections. I wanted to say don't do it. You will attract flies, even more than will already be attracted by the dribbling feces and the wound itself. She will be crawling with maggots in an hour.
