Im in the UP...Ishpeming, actually.

This is my FIRST year raising these adorable little feathered cuties.

ALL breeds are winter=hardy..

I have 3 ducks too.

I was given a WC Blk Polish Roo by someone who could not keep him.

He is JUST PRECIOUS, loves his girls so much.

I have a 12x20 coop.

With the winter coming, I am stressing out very much about How to Keep my Polish safe and warm enough..i.e..keeping his crest dry.

Please, ANY suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated.

This an excellent thread created to provide a place to find other MI members and where they are in our state. There is another social thread that I think you will really enjoy contributing to. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=7371780#p7371780

As
long as your coop has adequate ventilation your rooster should be okay. Humidity building up inside the coop is really the culprite contributing to frost bite. As long as your birds stay dry and are in a draft free area they will stay warm enough.

Hi. Gcjbabbott

Welcome.

I'm here in Da UP!

I see you have silkies.

I was just about to post my question again asking if anyone here had silkies because I wanted some.

My question was about their Winter care since I heard that silkies Can not take severe cold Or heat.

Is that true even tho my coop is warm ??

Thanks
DD
