I tired of this rain as well, but the forecast for today and tomorrow don't look as if we will have much in the way of sunshine. I'm glad that the ground is predominately sand where I have my birds. Given the amount of rain we've had, and the amount that is still headed our way, I'm sure many area have become lakes. The weather forecast just showed Howell cover with green and lots of yellow and red headed our way and due to be here in a little while.
Yesterday, during one of our brief respites, I was taking pole bean vines off of the garden fence. As a deterent for deer I added a hot wire about 4' from the ground to the system that protects my flock. I rarely disconnect the power when entering my chicken run since the rubber soles of my boots keep me from grounding out. However, with the grass being so wet the leather of my boots soon became soaked through and it wasn't long before I was reminded that the electric fence system was working. I can see why it is so effective in keeping predators at bay.
