Lady, welcome to the Michigan thread, lots of great people here. I am in the eastern UP, gets pretty cold here too - my chicken house is insulated but unheated, and I have so far not had any frostbite problems.

The weather here has been beautiful early fall sunny skies, light breezes, with a hint of winter to come at night.

Welcome Lady!

The babies I got are 10 days old now and check out the tail feather development on this baby. Think he's trying to tell me to start searching for his future home?

Hi Fellow YOOPER !!

Thank you for your introduction.

It's been just gorgeous here too.

What kind of chickens do you have?

I have All winter breeds except for my Polish Boy and I'm just scared about his crest getting wet and frozen.

I know I'm over anxious but he's a Good Boy and protector of HIS group

Of girls, and I don't want anything to happen to him.

I look forward to this thread !

Hello! I don't think I ever introduced myself on this thread

My name is Angela and I live in Davison. I am married with 3 daughters. 6,10,11. I have 4 chickies. Apple & Rocky (black australorps) and Omelet (Light Brahma) and Khaleesi (some kind of EE) None are laying yet though, all still too young. Apple is getting close though! (I hope!)

Lady & Angela, this grumpy old rooster would like to welcome you both to the Michigan thread. We have, I feel, the best thread on the entire BYC site.

I have 1 BSL that does the squat every time I go into the pen. The other girls are doing it off and on. All 5 of them are making making funny noises that sound like unoiled door hinges. But no eggs as of yet. I guess a watched hen never lays.

Welcome new folks. I thought it was a dating site when I joined, who knew "chicks" also meant poultry?

I was given a WC Blk Polish Roo by someone who could not keep him.
He is JUST PRECIOUS, loves his girls so much.m
I have a 12x20 coop. With the winter coming, I am stressing out very much about How to Keep my Polish safe and warm enough..i.e..keeping his crest dry.
Please, ANY suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated.
