It just seems like the winters are getting LONGER AND LONGER AND LONGER...
I suppose I just miss the true dog days of a Tennessee summer, the beautiful Tennessee mountains, and my Mom.

The last two winters were nasty. This one hasn't been that bad.
I luvs Tennesse too. Very pretty. Perhaps Chickflick will move with us???

Grand Rapids is lovely. There are alot of cultural events & great nightlife. Good restaurants.
It is more urbane than *urban* (with negative connotations).
Yes, it is more conservative than other cities. It is also more refined. That is cool, when you think that it has so much going for it & you don't have to drive through an hour of sprawl to be in the country.

Speaking of urban sprawl, my mother lives on the very edge of it in Saline, MI. To visit her brother in Rochester Hills, the opposite end of Metro Detroit, it takes 2 hours for her to drive out there. It takes 2 1/2 hours (traffic and weather permitting) for her to drive across 7 counties to come visit me up north. I made that drive with her once, not something I'd willingly do again

You're right about that. It takes me about a half hour to drive from my job in the center of the city to my house out in the country. GR is surrounded by little farming communities: Allendale, Lowell, Hudsonville, Byron Center, Caledonia, etc. etc. The highways make it pretty quick to get wherever you want to go.

I forgot to mention that along with Vernors, we can also get my other favorite, Squirt.

And, we can drive from our house here in Wyoming to our country place in Chase in about an hour. (83 miles from driveway to driveway)

I just found out the depot is located in Kalamazoo, so the job will likely be there!
