So if I said it's a false flag sunshine event..... I'd be labeled a weather conspirator too I suppose?

I believe they are talking about the breed also know as Fly Tying birds - they are bred to produce long and beautiful hackle feathers used for tying fly fishing lures

Never mind - behind today.

And yes it did SNOW here again last night, glad I can share the misery. Think I can get off with just a warning from the weather cops!

You all need to stop it with the naughty language! It's nearly MAY for goodness sakes!

That picture of the hen with the puppy is TOO CUTE for words! Oh my goodness!

After a lot of fretting and hovering and worrying, our first home-grown chick hatched today. It's a day early, so now I get to be super impatient until Friday waiting for the rest of them! Hopefully I don't have to wait that long. Hopefully we get a few more today, and the rest tomorrow.

I was reading a fishing forum and they were talking about the birds and how some people are in legal battles over it! Yup... Think maybe I will not consider the marketing of any of my birds hackles just to catch some fish. LOL

So we have been toying with gettting goats for a few months. Well, today during my daily Craigslist check I found a Nubian/Fainting doe, already bred to a Nubian buck, ready to birth in the next few weeks... she was FREE! So Guess where I went LOL

We weren't going into a wholesale business and it is the larger operations that are in legal battles BUT it would be a cool way for us to supplement our chicken feed. We will propbably only have about 2-5 good birds a year for hackle so $100-$300 if we are lucky and I already have friends to buy them. Small scale means raising about 50 bids a year and culling roosters at 6 mos and hens about 8 mos. So I would only be raising maybe 20 birds year round? At least that's what I am shooting for LOL The roosters would be usless cant cook them, tougher then leather I hear but the hens will make semi nice meat birds.

No TM I don't but will keep an eye out. I will get some pics tonight for ya Silly. I am a little nervous about the birthing process... Somehow I have always missed the horses birthing so I have never dealt with it... Owner said that she has always done it alone though so crossing my fingers.
