So sorryWell my roo is gone we could not help him makes me sad.
You all need to stop it with the naughty language! It's nearly MAY for goodness sakes!
That picture of the hen with the puppy is TOO CUTE for words! Oh my goodness!
After a lot of fretting and hovering and worrying, our first home-grown chick hatched today. It's a day early, so now I get to be super impatient until Friday waiting for the rest of them! Hopefully I don't have to wait that long. Hopefully we get a few more today, and the rest tomorrow.

No TM I don't but will keep an eye out. I will get some pics tonight for ya Silly. I am a little nervous about the birthing process... Somehow I have always missed the horses birthing so I have never dealt with it... Owner said that she has always done it alone though so crossing my fingers.
Good luck turkey hunting.. hope you get one.. i have a 28 lb turkey in oven right now.. bought it around thanksgiving time and cooked the smaller one then, so wanted to cook it b4 it freezerburns.. house smells so good..Driving to Grayling in a few mins for the weekend. My husband has a Turkey Permit.. I guess this will mean another year with a store bought turkey for Thanksgiving LOL! I can't wait for goat pics.. I truly love the critters. I used to have one 30 or so years ago and he was a lot of fun. I can't wait to have a few of my own. I will take pictures of my "yard" so you can all get ideas of where I should place my raised garden beds and Chicken coop. I will also take Pics of the other yard I want to have the goats in. My Husband, Father and I have accumulated 5-21/2 acre parcels over the years and all of the adjoin. We have 2 houses ( one for me the other for my Dad) and the other a trailer with an addition ( for my grown *** kids and they call it the "Party Palace") and a big pole barn.Only about 2 and a half acres are not wooded but you will see in the pictures if it does NOT snow.

Why cull, you would be having a wasted product then. You could pluck the bird.... You'd only be plucking the hackle area... Then you don't have to constantly replace the bird... Just a thought. We weren't going into a wholesale business and it is the larger operations that are in legal battles BUT it would be a cool way for us to supplement our chicken feed. We will propbably only have about 2-5 good birds a year for hackle so $100-$300 if we are lucky and I already have friends to buy them. Small scale means raising about 50 bids a year and culling roosters at 6 mos and hens about 8 mos. So I would only be raising maybe 20 birds year round? At least that's what I am shooting for LOL The roosters would be usless cant cook them, tougher then leather I hear but the hens will make semi nice meat birds.
