Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Oh, I forgot to thank Cindy [John's wife] and Rose for helping so much with Tucker. It made things a lot easier for me.

It was nice to see faces yesterday! Thank you to all of you who did so much work. I feel like I didn't see or talk to everyone that I had planned on. DH missed it all taking Titus (puppy) in to the vet. Titus is not back to his normal puppy self but much improved and back eating, drinking and walking about stiffly like a little old man. He is however being overly spoiled and I'm sure will never recover from being allowed on the bed!

Last night we arrived home a little after 6 and I went to check all the birds. It was a shock to the system that it was 68* here. Anyway while we were gone some jokester had visited our coop.

My guess is my mom. The little egg in back is an OEG so it is small.
That is too funny!

I am glad Titus is doing better.

So I raise Aracaunas and as you all know it gets hard to find them coming up on my senior year I want to get a new cockeral since my roo is almost three I want to finish the showing season pretty good. (I'm leaving for the Army so this is my last season for a while) so if anyone has some cockerals I'm interested

neighbor & welcome to the Michigan thread. Hopefully someone here will be able to help you.

I had a lot of people ask about the shirt for CS and I said I would post the store link:
Uggo: http://www.cafepress.com/sarteam/10158431
Mich. Chicken Stock Shirt: http://www.cafepress.com/sarteam/10128363

Thank you for the kind remarks on the shirt.

Thank you for the plants and luckily, DH didn't kill me for coming home with more critters than I left with!

I had a great time, however since I'm not a good hosty type person, we'll need someone else to pick up the torches for next CS to spread the joy and responsibility!

Thank you to everyone who helped and I hope some others who haven't will offer to help next year.

Thank you for all the donations, there was enough to cover the park fees and help with some of the cost of the meats. Which is great cause it means someone didn't have to pay for it all out of pocket like in previous years.

Im so glad I was able to make it :)
Sam, spending time talking to Granny- is like coming home after a long trip away. I love her much!
I hope Hope's finger is okay, and not too badly cut.
It was wonderful talking to everyone and catching up. We need to make Chickenstock a camp-out, there is never enough time to talk with everyone.
Can you imagine setting up tents and predator-proofing all the critters for an overnight?

I ate so much food that I couldnt eat for the rest of the day- and I was shocked that my daughters went out to Subway a couple hours after we got home.

Thank you for the plants- I was out til dark planting and relocating/transplanting. Looks good out there- cant even tell I had a chicken yard. For sure cant see Bird out there, hiding amongst the hostas and ferns.

Jenny, I have NO idea how to take care of rhubarb! However, I will find a place somewhere.
Ashli- thankyou for surprising Kayla with the Peacock pendant- she likes it very much :)
AND ROBIN- thank you for making it possible for me to attend. Love you muches n bunches.

Silly

I almost forgot- the shirts are fantastic....you know I have to have an Uggo shirt. I will be ordering one on payday. Dont take them off the market til I get one, please.

I, too, was out planting until dark. Exhaustion and mosquitoes drove me into the house. I'm still tired, I think I overdid things yesterday. And I'm a mass of mosquito bites today - I guess the Muscovy ducks aren't doing their job. Hmmmm ~ maybe I need more . . .

On the upside, the blue copper marans pullet that I have in 'sick bay' right now seems to be doing quite well. She was bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning and ran over to the side of the crate to greet me. She is eating and drinking quite well (except for the food I added garlic to - she doesn't seem to care for that though the rest of the flock went nuts for it). I've started feeding everyone soaked feed with Braggs organic raw ACV, garlic, and a Braggs organic enzyme supplement mixed in. It's not the fermented feed, though I am working towards that. Everyone is also getting a vitamin/electrolyte supplement in their water. No further issues with the young flock so far and the older flock has been doing just fine all along. I am heading up to FF&H to get wormer, too. I think all they have on hand is Wazine but I will be worming my horses today so I should have a bit of Ivermectin left over - enough to do both flocks. I know I have to wait about 2 weeks in between the two wormers. And that the eggs shouldn't be eaten after the Wazine (though I've read threads that say they are fine for personal use, I don't want to sell them to my customers). Can the eggs be fed back to the chickens, though?

I wasn't able to make Chickenstock yesterday because I had to work, but I had to share this picture! My first eggs today, the silly girls wouldn't use their fancy nesting boxes, but laid them on top of the extra bag of pine shavings I left in the coop
