Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I think my brain is going to explode. I'm really irritated by craigslist right now. "email only" and then don't respond. "call and leave a message" and then don't call back.

I'm trying to track down some new birds since I'll have 2 tractors to use for quarantine after tonight, and NO ONE will get back to me with what they still have available! DH doesn't want to incubate any more this year (doesn't even want me to put our mutt eggs under the broodys!), and wants to just start with chicks or pullets. I'd rather not ship chicks because it's so hot, but I also don't want to drive a long way (several hours) for birds either. And if I wait until fall for chicks, then I'm stuck running a heat lamp a ton. (But if anyone wants to go in on some chicks from Sunny Side Up Micro Farm.....chicks4myfamily on here......... I'd be interested in doing that. They're in Ohio, and ship express, so we could wait for a not-90-degree-week to ship.) OK. Done complaining now! My tomato plants are nearing the 4ft tall mark after the rain we got Sunday night. I thought I had done a really good job spacing the rows far enough apart, but I'm going to have to shimmy between them when they start to ripen. YAY! My green bean plants are flowering, so I'm expecting to be able to start picking in about 2 weeks on those.......I could probably start more beans so I have a fall crop of those too. Hmmmmm. Does anyone have any good canning recipes for cherry tomatos? I have......several......cherry tomato plants and other than salads and feeding them to the chickens, I don't know what I'm going to do with all of them!
Glad...I have a really yummy "oven dried cherry/grape tomato" recipe. They are great for lots of things & freeze well. Personally I do not like any form of raw tomato & I never knew what to do with the zillions of grape tomatoes that I got. This recipe is super easy & everyone that tastes them loves 'em. PM me if you're interested & I can email it to you.

Krisrose has a hen with a huge crop that never goes down. There was an article in one of the chicken magazines a couple of months ago that explained about impacted crops. I'm in TN so can't help you now. I'll be back late Sat and if you remind me I'll look u the article

My run is mostly sandy, but there are also little pebbles mixed in. I usually rake and filter the piles through 1/4" hardware cloth so everything is smaller than that. Could she have rocks in there? I remember a vet mentioning having to do surgery on a dog that ate rocks. Darn animals...
Dogs don't have crops.
