I've been doing a lot of reading on chicken health this week. While we don't have this issue here, I think I read something about Preparation H being used to bring down the tissue swelling.
Hope it recovers.

Yup. You can ry putting some prep H on it and a few minutes later gently push it back in if you can. Either way it should help. Works on skunks.

I got a egg from my 16 wk old isa.. this one was finally in the nestbox.. the leghorn has been going it the nestbox often also.. so hoping for another egg today..
glad this one didnt get aten..

Ugh. Bumblefoot. And mites. And worms.

It's like sharknado in my coop out there, right now.

The bumblefoot is improving in all 4 feet now. But the mites and worms on top of it... I'm feeling very discouraged. I know, I know... suck it up, it comes with the territory, right?

This weekend, I'm raking out all of the dirt/grass/leaves and putting it in compost, and starting with new dirt. I'm giving the coop a good clean out followed with Sevin dusting for the coop and the birds. And I'm planning on giving them Safeguard for the worms. My dog who eats their poop (yuck, yuck, yuck) has lost some weight in the past month, so I assume she's picked them up too. So, we'll worm her after the redose for the chickens.

This is all on the 2 hens, but I think we'll do the same for the 2 pullets (18 weeks old now) as a precaution.

Does this all sound good?

It's great that so many have signed the petition for Laura and her family. She is pretty new to BYC so she is not familiar with the state threads. I knew that you guys on the Michigan thread would speak up for a fellow Michigan chicken person. It doesn't seem too hard for the City of Perry to make an exception for a few chickens that help kids out with physical and emotional therapy. The link again:

Amy, dogs do not get chicken worms, and vice versa. If your dog is losing weight there might be some other problem.

Dawg recommends Valbazen for intestinal worms in chickens.

All of that is a GREAT idea and you'll be surprised how much of a difference that makes!

Really? Huh. Thanks for schooling me. I figured that whipworm (for example) was whipworm, and would happily live in any carrier. This dog is a German Shepard who finally finished shedding. Maybe she's looking thinner because of that?

Is Dawg a person? It looks like Valbazen comes in incredibly large bottles.

If anyone out there is looking to make $$, please develop and market a small health/first aid kit for very small flocks. I think it would sell.
