One thing about a camper coop is it's metal; other thing is it's hot. One can never be sure but i think my only weak spots in the coop right now is the windows since they are screen. I'll have to get some hardware cloth. We cut a hole in the floor for a pop door, so i'll have to be sure on that one too. For tonight i have a huge cement brick on it. DH lent out his traps and never got them back; so the only option would be an out and out shooting in the event he sticks around. My neigbor has birds too and has also had egg losses, so........ for now he's eating eggs but looks like we need to have a discussion and decide about this. Drat i liked the little guy.

Run isn' t solid against much of anything, it's more of a deterrent. When it's cooler weather i only let birds out when i'm there and don't even use the run, i only have a small handful of birds and tons of space in there. They have plenty of cover and under the coop as well for hawk cover, which until now has been my only real issue.

If you can keep him out for a couple of days, he'll find somewhere else to "nest". If all else fails, borrow a live trap, cover it so he doesn't s get upset and spray and then transport him to a woods a couple of miles away. The problem is that sooner or later you are going to have bad losses if your coop isn't predator proof. Skunks' main prey are bugs, worms, and mice, but eggs are an easy meal.

This is what I used for lice and mites. I would dip the chickens in a "bath" with this and I would also spray down the coops with it.

We have used it on ticks up north and they die before your eyes! Also works for clothing better/safer then "OFF" spray.

No, it's called summer chicken fun! As opposed to winter chicken fun that has a totally different set of issues.

If anyone out there is looking to make $$, please develop and market a small health/first aid kit for very small flocks. I think it would sell.

If you want to put one together the best instructions I found was from Terry at henblog.com. Look under FAQ's and medicine cabinet.

I added 7 nest boxes yesterday so hopefully there is more room and the broodys I can't break will stop breaking eggs. Now off to finish packing for camp. I'm a bit scared, as I am every year, to leave DH with everyone to care for.

Fuzzy but, I agree with folly, i had a baby skunk eat a couple of my 2 month old chicks.. they are a threat and carry diseases.. set a trap .. then walk slowly to the trap after you catch with a sheet or a big towel.. and then cover the trap and you should be able to take care of it.
