Lady, you may have to do some stealth tomato gifting - you know, leave them on the seats of people's cars or on their front porches when they are not home

My chickens LOVE tomatos, so if nothing else you can recycle them into eggs

I got a recipe from a niece for a pickle called a sun pickle. They were some of the crispist pickles I've had in years. I can give you the recipe tomorrow if you are interested. They are made by layering ingredients and then putting them outside in the sun for 3 days.

Can you send this one to me as well? I have a recipe like this from a friend, hers turn out great! Unfortunately she must do something a tad different, i did the same recipe and mine were pure vinegar!

They said she always seemed to have trouble laying and tended to lay on the ground and that her comb never turned red. Hormone issue? Anyway, we've been lucky thus far; no losses here yet.

She was around 30 weeks old (not 100% certain but hatched this year for sure) and no, I don't believe they've done either. This is their first batch of chickens in their newly renovated coop so they haven't gotten into much trouble yet, healthwise. The other losses were due to a mean rooster, culling the mean rooster, giving away another mean rooster, culling a deformed chick and an unknown predator. So that would make this their sixth loss since starting out. Bad luck!

I'm just curious... I see other states that have SWAP pages just for their state. Why don't we have one for Michigan? That would be really convenient for us Michiganders who would like to get in on SWAPs without worrying about shipping birds from California or Texas. Just a thought.

Hot and muggy today. I'm really tired of this heat. I have not enjoyed this summer too much. I'll probably be wanting this weather in January.

All are alive, a few are a little droopy. Vitamins and sugar water going in. Only two stuck bums. And way more than I ordered! 22 all together when I ordered 16. May have waited a long time, but they are an adorable assortment.


Going to have to work on making another waterer though. (Hehe)

Ha ha ha! Just noticed the Smirnoff bottle. No wonder they were a little bit "droopy"... That was probably the drunk ones.
