Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

You aren't going to make Pat into soup I hope? :p Is he still kicking/tripping around there?

No! Pat passed away about 2 weeks ago. I didn't say? Nope. He just started deteriorating. I had wormed him, he was mite free, made sure his feet weren't tangled up... But he just kept getting to where he'd just not move around as much. I smelled his mouth four sour crop, poop was always normal, never the poops... His comb got pale and he quit crowing in the last week before passing. Now I have no one to keep the garage chicks in line...

Sam, glad to see you this morning....... Yes we enjoy your ramblings... and to know you're still kickin', no matter how high. If you don't pop in, then I worry that something happened to you or granny and well, that just wouldn't be a good day.

I can sympathize with you on the old dog....... we have two old timers. One is doing fairly well for a old dog.. little stiff and sore to get moving in the morning, but she's still full of P & V. The other girl, same age... not doing so well, but considering all the trouble she had growing up, (seizures) she's doing very well. Can't hold either of her bodily functions at all when shes sleeping (with a mastiff it can be "difficult" to deal with) and she is very weak in her hind end and can hardly get up, going deaf and I'm sure her sight is poor. But her spirit is there so the balls in her court! The expected life span for a Corso is 8-10 yrs and both of my girls are 12.

Randy, You know they're just F'ing with you....

Houston, I like to process my roos just as they get old enough to crow and become a menace.

Sorry to hear that! I missed reading a lot on here when my husband got hurt. Pat obviously had some defects so maybe something internal just was not right. Thanks for giving him a good life. :)

Anybody have any extra birds, doesn't matter if they are cockrels, old hens bantam or full size. Any breeds or combinations are fine. Training a young Lab for duck hunting. Looking to get some birds for him to pick up. I had some ducks that I kept but since the freezer just went kaput and I didn't know it right away I had to get rid of the ones we were using.

All birds would be humanely dispatched before ever being exposed to the dog. PM and contact info is in my profile. Thank you

sqft rule). Need to figure out a CHEAP way to get them a more useable winter run area as well. Maybe I need to find one of those plug-in snowblowers on CL and just dedicate myself to blowing out their run regularly.
the cattle pannels work real well and easy. I have an old instant garage frame, the plastic has long ago weatherd and gone, I have some old leftover steel siding I put on the top and I tarp the sides, makes a great rain and sun shelter in the summer and in winter I put the sides on and have extra outside, snow free space

Well it looks like my ee tweety passed on her bubbly eye to one of my slw. Boo. It's always something with these girls. I'm just glad I got rid of the mite problem and my ee is free and clear of any issues. Just started my slw on tylan. She doesn't care to be held. Petted she likes but restraining that little girl... I got a wing up my nose. Yay! 4 more days of a wing up my nose. Wish me luck.

Hoping for a full and speedy recovery for them. My SLW is the same way. She's a flapper.

On that note, I keep their living area clean. I spot clean every day, I change their bedding when needed. I scrub quarterly. I make sure they always have fresh water with a shot of acv. I mix their food with a homemade blend that is whole food oriented. They get goodies from the garden, berries, oatmeal and yogurt on a regular basis. But when one of them gets the sniffles I feel like a horrible chicken parent.
Someone please tell me I am normal.
