Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

BRRRRRRRR! Was off work all week for hunting. Hardly saw a single deer. Didn't get any other than that 6pt., though I still had a great time with my DD and DS hunting. Every few years we pull one on my DD. One year we climbed up on his tree stand after dark and replaced his padded seat with a toilet seat, painted camouflage of course, complete with a magazine rack and toilet paper/roll holder attached to the tree. When we were growing up my DD would fart, and then say "here deer"... it was his version of a deer call. So I got the brilliant idea of getting a remote controlled fart machine that I attached under his chair in the ground blind. That one kinda back fired (pun intended)... and didn't work out well (too cold I think). But we had a blast with it during thanksgiving dinner. It was the first dinner we had with our new DSIL and I taped it under her chair.... we never laughed so hard. This year I wanted to start planning another joke... not sure if I'll be able to pull it off, but I'm thinking about filling my dads ground blind with tribbles..(he's a trek fan).. this one is going to require some effort! I may buy a couple real tribbles so we can have some sound effects, but then I'll have to make my own. Trying to think of a quick and easy way to do this.

Lady - hopefully they get it figured out for you. I know if I go without sitting in front of my light this time of year it is hard to even have the motivation to get off the couch.

Raz - who can't love dancing chickens.

My dog, Titus has cabin fever with the wind and snow. Yesterday I went to gather eggs. I had two large that had frozen and two bantams. While getting fresh water the dog took a bantam out of the basket and ran off and lost it in the snow. So a 1 egg day.

Then my DH let him out and forgot him. So in he comes and goes straight to his crate so we knew he did something he wasn't supposed to. A bit later I am looking out the kitchen window to see a WCB bantam polish roo sitting on the top of our retaining wall all hunched down. I rescued him and couldn't find tracks as to how he got there. I assume that he was the only crazy bird out and Titus chased him over there. Hopefully the wind will die down sometime and I can go run him around and burn up some of his crazy energy. Then this morning Titus redeemed himself when he let me know one of the coop doors was wide open. Yesterday I had a horrible headache. Obviously it affected my ability to care for the birds and properly latch doors.

If you make a tribble filled blind, PLEASE share pictures, hah! I love the Star Trek episode Trouble With Tribbles!

Lady and Tap, I can't imagine what you are going thru and have to deal with it all winter. I know how better I feel when the sun is shining, but don't get so down when it's cloudy to make me feel so depressed. I know a lot of people just say "get over it" and you want to slap them up side the head! lol It's not easy fighting what your body is doing. Hope this little site can make you smile once in awhile with all the cute chick pics and jokes people post.

lol, I may even try to get it on video. We loved that episode too! It's just gonna be a lot of sewing to pull this off! LOL! anyone have a pattern for a ball?

It. Is. COLD!!!!! If it weren't so dang windy out there, it wouldn't be so bad.

Ugh.

Anyway, the winter depression is setting in fierce this year. I've got an appointment with the dr. tomorrow but it's not soon enough. I want to go and buy a full spectrum light TODAY! But then tomorrow I need to have a clean blood test for vit. D and don't want to muddle it. I get it so bad I just want to quit. Not suicide, thankfully but just to cease existing. I've been going to bed early just to be unconscious for as long as possible. Physical depression hurts so bad. The thought of getting through the day is too much.
I know that you're not a touchy feely person, so take this in the most respectful-of-your-perspective way:

I am there, and it hit earlier than normal, and harder than normal. The light and large doses of Vitamin D help me so much. This year, I may need additional meds to help, though.
A few years back, I was convinced I had a muscle disease, and it turned out I had only a teeny bit of Vitamin D in me. The other day, I realized I hadn't been taking my vitamin, and that's why my legs ached all day.

I hope you and the doctor come up with a plan that is helpful for you.
