Now hopefully everyone subscribes to the Chickenstock 2014 thread to watch for Attendence, Food, Buy/Sell/Raffle, Games for Kids, Cleanup after, and hopefully a thread on Registration/Meet/ at the event
Here is the link to watch for threads with signup/sign in FYI
Also, for the people wondering where to buy seed to sprout for fodder in Michigan, I found a link that shows areas in Michigan that may be able to sell seed here:
VERY happy to see after 12 hours of rain and 40 degrees temps I see no flooding where I usually get it...WHEW!
Nice to see the piles lose height and we certainly can use the water in the ground.
You can also use red cote on the peck site. I know, it's red... it's messy. It SMELLS horrid. Not kidding. Used it on my raccoon attack victim, LIttle Pretty, and wow, healed her up good. AND if she's also pecking herself.. might want to check her over for mites/lice. Tails, vents, underwings are places they like to hang out.
@NovaAman
Thanks..liked that idea of bringing in a friend for Spaz. Spent the morning building a 5'x6' pen out of boxes. Grabbed Partridge (Spaz's EE sister & whom is also going thru a HORRID molt), brought her in & threw them both in said new pen. They are doing fine together.
This route will make me feel better while we are both out of town & someone else is here taking care of all the critters. Next Saturday I can put the door back on inside the outdoor coop that cordons off a 4' x 8' section & start the re-intro process while I am around to watch.
Opa...SO glad you added that section into the pen addition ... Didn't think I'd need it til CS2014 when I'll prob get a few more birds....but, boy will it pay off in the dead off winter .....
I'll have some help with mowing the lawn soon.... This is penny, a little Jacob's ewe. I got a call last night that the owner wants to pull her from her herd because she is so tiny that she is getting pushed around too much by her larger ewes. She knew I loved Jacobs.. I have also been wanting to get wool, I'd really love to learn how to spin and yes, knit. So, hopefully, she'll keep my doe goat company when I pull the boys to another pasture. (I know they have different mineral needs).
