My chocolate stash never lasts until an emergency.... or maybe every day has one!

I do not tan my own hides. These were all hides my brother had tanned and I don't remember which company it was. My job was to sew the hides together by machine and sew and quilt the backing on by hand. It took me a bit over 40 hours but I was paid well so I'm happy.

Yesterday was two days since I worked on my girl's bumblefoot. I unwrapped her and the bottom looked great. The top was scabbed up and also looked fine so I didn't rewrap her and just set her free. This was the simplest one that I have worked on. I'll check on her again in a few days. She has had two other cases and I'm not sure if she is prone to it or if it has never gone away completely. Last year when I purchased her sight unseen she came to me with bumblefoot on both feet and it has been some work to get her healthy.

I broke up all the frozen bedding yesterday so it should help some on the feet. I have ended up with several cases of frostbite on my smaller bantams but nothing on the big guys. I had to rubberband/ponytail three Polish yesterday as they were soaking their crest feathers again and I knew they would ice up as temps fell.

You DO know that dark chocolate is good for us, right? I mean all those antioxidants & so forth.
I eat at least an ounce per day.
I keep the 72oz Nestle morsels bags as my emergency stash for when the "good" chocolate runs out.

On my plane in Atlanta that'll get me to DC. It is one FULL flight!

Motor City greetings! My boyfriend and I live one mile north of Detroit, and are first time backyard chickeneers. We are almost done building our coop, our version of the Wichita Cabin Coop. We started building in October, and will have it mostly completed this afternoon when we install the hen house door. The process has been enlightening, and a ton of fun.

We plan on getting our chicks in late February/March from Cedar Creek Hatchery in Twin Lakes. The owner mostly does mail order, but has allowed us to pick up our small order (three chicks) in person. Our hopes are to get a Black Lava, a Black French Copper Maran and a Bluebell Superlayer.

Nice to meet you all! It's great to see such a strong chicken community in Michigan!

I have to get those ice grips for my shoes, will be doing an amazon search later for sure. It is terrible getting to my coops. I thought I was gonna have a heartattack just trying to get down my street yesterday to get to the main road for wrestling. Boy, my boys better know how much I love them.

@preciouskitty - have a safe trip, bet ur birds will be so excited to see ya when u get back.

Looking forward to CS, this will be my 1st and it sounds like fun. DH is even excited and is putting in for a vacation day, just in case. I love to cook and bake, so it is gonna be hard to decide what to bring.
