One should never worry about those changes photographs make in our actual self known appearance.

Oh no! I am so sorry you lost those 8. I had a horrid experience once getting shipped live birds. the post office warned me before I picked them up that they smelled horrible. They were all dead, 26 chicks

You certainly have 10 very lucky little chicks!

Pea comb is dominant, while a straight comb is recessive, so you don't know if he has one of each gene or if both comb genes are for pea comb. The blue shell gene and pea comb are related, but not a hard and fast rule. The blue gene is also dominant, which is how you get green egg layers (the blue egg shell gene plus the brown "paint" of a brown egg layer) in a lot of EEs and barnyard mixes. Clear as mud, right?

Spent the first 2 hours of my day in the car taking the foster dog in for her spay, stopping to get the kids donuts for behaving (it's a 40min drive on winter roads to that particular vet office), back home to get the backpacks and snowpants, then down to the school. Later this afternoon it'll be BACK into town to pick up chicken feed, groceries, and the dog. Good thing I worked on cleaning up the house YESTERDAY because I'm going to spend most of today behind the wheel.

So sorry they didn't all make it, but so glad they arrived! Please post a few pics as they grow! On a similar but different note - I had ordered a gift for my daughter from The Disney Store, which shipped it out on the 21st of Dec, Arrived in Allen Park the 22nd, was sent to Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh post office the 23, back to Allen Park on the 27th and finally here in NW Ohio, the 29th??? I always get tracking when available. And emails/texts.
Your poor little chicks!
I'm a fumbling spaz too, btw, - but for them i'm cool and collected;

Just channel your inner sophistication and go with it :) Everyone that i know of still thinks this is about whether some nutty people can have chickens in the city or not, and so far not much sympathy at all. :( So last thing we want is to give them the satisfaction, right???! At least if we go down we can give them a good run for it and they'll remember us perhaps as people to be contended with. :)
I'm going to remember that line "Just channel your inner sophistication"!

Yep! I have an EE or OE. The place I got them from was "experimenting" with breeds. Many weren't what they said. anyway She lays an "olive-ish" colored egg, but inside it's blue. Is that how it's supposed to look for an OE?

Everyone who is going to the meeting - thanks for your dedication and efforts!

Well, I sent my letter in for the GAAMPS thing. I figured it was a good day to do it since I'm in a particularly bad mood and happened to catch a bit of Food, Inc. on the telly last night. I hadn't seen it in a couple of years and it served to the stoke the fire a bit. Even my hubby was stewing on the couch afterward and he doesn't usually consider these things at all.

There is a ton of fact checking to be done regarding the proposed changes to the GAAMPs. I've been focused on the Siting aspect but other GAAMPs are changing as well. Depending on what your farm operation is, you may fall under several GAAMPs.

I suggest due diligence in your research because the fact path can have many twists and turns before you get to the real answer. I've done research on biology papers that were less convoluted.

On another note, there has been some discussion within the MSFC about a template type letter for sending e-mail to officials, committees, politicians and others. Personally I think that an individual letter carries more weight than a form letter does.
But some people are not comfortable in writing letters like that. I know, because a few people have asked me for help in writing those letter. So I'll offer this to everyone; if you want to write a letter or e-mail and would like a bit of editorial help I would be happy to help. Send me a PM for my address or phone and I'll do what I can.
Lastly, I might have stepped in to it again.
