Goat lovers... thought this was about spot on. I can see our goats doing exactly this if given the opportunity.

watching the goats was a lot more fun then shoveling snow in the run and off their winter shelter got 2 areas ready for separating breeds, then 2 roosters need to be gone and we will be ready for spring.

not looking forward to the mud we will have when all this white stuff melts

brother lives in Ludington, not to far from the St. park, looks like one of his roads

Bleah, our new internet sucks big time. It cuts out all the time. It's faster than our old internet... when it works. They called my husband today and told him that they noticed our service was spotty. YOU THINK?!!!!

Still gonna hatch some eggs I think. I just bought a bator finally so I don't have to keep borrowing other people's bators. So now I suppose I have to hatch some. It's bigger than I intended but the price was right so I went with it. So, you know, I'd be willing to throw someone's eggs in with mine. Plenty of room. My hubby is really wanting to hatch some of our own eggs but I'm still leaning on getting some elsewhere. White and Dark Chocolate, like cocoa butter and a 90% would be nice.

Anyway, it is super nice out! It's been so cold that 35° feels like shorts weather. No matter that we got 6-8" of snow last night. Everyone's happy. The sheep even waded through 3' drifts to come see me at the fence and then they started chomping on the snow and digging in with their noses and generally standing in the sun as much as possible.

The chickens won't come out but enjoy looking out the open doorway. They've been laying a lot more lately. One of them just started molting though, Cinnamon, my BO/BR cross. She looks like an ostrich, my son says. This is friendly Pepper, on the left (BO/EE cross) and Chip, my favorite EE who happens to lay brown eggs but has a great personality.

The flock wanting to go out but too chicken. Notice the drift in front of the door. That's about 2' of snow that wasn't there yesterday.
Coronation Sussex clan all pictured. They're quite the group.

I just saw that on FB and was gonna share - small world! I'm going to try and make one this summer for my acrobats.

Does the cherry impart any flavour to the syrup? Or it is more your your nose enjoyment? I like to use cherry and apple in my smoker for the nice flavour it adds to the meat.

I was there yesterday and they said the first week of March.
No. But some people say the best syrup is cooked over wood. I use apple also. The steam rises so fast that the soots never seem to get in the syrup. I filter mine thru cheesecloth anyway. One thing though - I usally always have a fine sediment. It never hurts a thing and when you pour it stays packed down. When I sell I always"rack" my syrup just like when I make wine. My wine is so crystal clear, hmmm, time to pop a cork on some tart cherry....

They say the same about cooking moonshine. Wood fired is better. I was wondering if the soots swirled up and into the open pot. Now I know.
I should get around to bottling my maple mead. It has been in a carboy for about 8 years now.

Sure is a pretty day. Sun shining, snow melting. Street flooding.

Okay, just finished the interview for an Martha Stewart living.com and talked about you guys! Told them what a bunch of ornery folks you are. LOL Just kidding! Actually, I told them how wonderful and special everyone of you are. And how I couldn't do it without you. Also Talked about the plight of the BYC farmer and the right to farm law in Michigan! Hope it gets in the article will keep you guys posted!

Just in case you missed it, I hate winter! The warmest day in months and my water to the coop freezes! It went from fine to frozen in 4 hours time. Uggh, and it doesn't have a shut off, and we have geothermal, so no water no heat, I'm going to go mutter and worry.
