Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Introducing new chickens to a small pen or coop invariably triggers bad dominance behavior. Its much easier if they are free ranging. There will still be aggression but the stranger has a chance to retreat and gradually gain aceptance.

Shows in MI ? Where and when?

I want to exhibit some of my Icelandics, and maybe rehome a couple of roosters.

Hey RaZ, sometimes it's not about heat but about the aroma! That's why I like Cherry. I have some huge cherries and a few large trunks broke off. I offered a bunch up to a neighbor that heat with wood. For no particular reason I kept some and used it for smoking meat. Then I was low on syrup wood one year so I tried it - love at first smell. I love the aroma, and it burns hot enough to keep the sap boiling hard. My main go-to is oak but I love having cherry to stick in every now and then.
Does the cherry impart any flavour to the syrup? Or it is more your your nose enjoyment? I like to use cherry and apple in my smoker for the nice flavour it adds to the meat.

Hmm ok. Anyone know about the one in new Hudson?
I was there yesterday and they said the first week of March.

Goat lovers... thought this was about spot on. I can see our goats doing exactly this if given the opportunity.

That's GREAT!!!! Like a balance ball for goats!
Wonder what that material is and how long it took to get it staked at the right spot so it wouldn't flatten out?

Thought some might enjoy seeing this. It was at Ludington State Park. My snow looks so much smaller in comparison.:th
