Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Don't they still have more rights to appeal?

I am lucky - so far - that our entire area, except for the development, is zoned agricultural. Lots of generational farmers here.

Does anyone reading or posting in this thread have Black Copper Maran's? I thought someone was going to hatch or possibly have eggs to hatch. Just curious and really too lazy to wade through all the old posts here... One of these days we should take a poll of people in Michigan who have breeding pairs to contact for eggs/chicks/older birds for sale or trade...or has this been done and I don't know where to find it?

We have a hatching thread (see my signature) for Michiganders and you might be able to get a sense of what people have there. Wynette, the starter of this thread (and a mod on here) breeds bcm. She is in the flint area I believe

Does any one have a female Welsummer chick they're willing to sell? I would love to get one, but they only come straight run from Townline, and I'm afraid we're on too small of a lot and budget to test out different chicks...and I'd get so attached to a little too!

I have a few black copper and blue copper that are available. I have another batch of blue coppers in the bator as we speak... and then another batch of blue and black after that

Candy442, I am obtaining some black copper marans eggs some time in late april or may I expect. Dont know how many or what price I will be paying as yet. Hopefully 1 dozen. These are coming from premium french belgian stock. I have no idea how many will hatch out or what sex they will end up being. I will definitely keep enough to breed and sell the rest. I have an iffy party interested but nothing positive. I dont ship chicks or eggs and these would be most likely pick up only. Check out my profile and email me if you are interested.

I will - I just got 5 and am very sure they are pullets. I want to grow them out a few weeks to be sure.

Where are you - if you go to FF in Holland, they have all females and 3 males - someone feather sexed them. Of course, that is still a 90%...

I am in Zeeland....

We live east of Lansing, so pretty much in the middle of the mitten

. We (DH is Iamfivewire) look for a good reason for a road trip, so distance is not a normal deterrent in obtaining good healthy stock.

So I buy an incubator - and now I have a broody hen! I want to let her have a few eggs, too, but I think it's going to be too cold. And she's hogging the nesting box - but that didn't seem to deter the other girls as she had 6 eggs under her! What to do!
