BYFM - Handsome Showgirls, but I have two roos myself!

Well the day has come. My favorite rooster has always been Al. He is a WCB Polish and one of my original birds. In his life he has knocked himself out running into a wall and I thought he was dead, been pecked tailless and crestless and has had so many injuries and baths and blowdries and has always tolerated it great. Here is the rumpless one.

He is so ugly but I just love him. The last month he has taken to following me anytime I'm by the chickens. Not more than two foot away. Then he started to give me "The Eye" so I was wondering what was going on. Yesterday I was out visiting with the chickens and bent over to receive two good pecks in the butt. When I stood up I got the hackles and I ended up backing away to get the broom. Today I was out and he pecked my croc. When I went to move he came at me.... so I think he has crowed his last.

This winter there were so many times I thought he was done for, so back at Easter my DH got me another to replace him. This is Pippin.

Handsome young thing with a good attitude. But still

my Al. How do you dispose of a rooster in a decent manner? And if anyone is interested.... Mr. Frodo is sweet and looking for a home.

Fancie Favie... Here is the boy now... I got both a front veiw and and rear view. He seems to have good formation at the moment. Toes are spaced nicely and good feathering on legs and feet. He's got bluish eyes instead of orange though.




My serema cockerel Fritz loves to terrorize my two boys... They are nearly 3 times his size too!

8 out of 12 chickens... ROOSTERS!!!

Next chickenstock I am going to need 2 or 3 EE pullets! Arucana or Amerucana or whatever...

I am keeping Nugget my EE roo and Peking my frizzled NN roo. I LOVES both of them!!!

That leaves those 2 boys with 4 girls
Nugget is "special" after his brain injury so he has a forever home with me and Peking is just too sweet! He runs to me when I open the coop and cuddles with 2 of the girls!

Oh, that does look closest to the little snake! Milk snake is similar, but that is much closer, less brown. Thanks!

Sure. I will go and get a pic of the boy. I am partial to one already, so I will get a pic of the other boy. The one I am partial too is starting to look like my Mr. Fluffers, so maybe that's why I am more patial to him...

I know everyone has see him several times... bare with me... LOL

Is everyone out partying tonight? I didn't get the invite...

I just locked all the peepers up and brought my booboo girl in to play doctor. Her booboo is getting soooo much better!
I would post pictures but it is pretty yulky. I will be making a thread once she is all healed up
She is well enough to play with her friends and they seemed to leave her booboo alone. Her BF, Peking missed her. They were cuddling together in the coop before I brought her in. I still keep her in the garage with the heat lamp at night because she has wiped all the TAO all over her feathers and it kind of weighs her down. I don't think she could fluff up enough to keep herself warm.
I let her booboo dry up for 2 days like someone had mentioned before putting tonights dose of TAO on.
I am so happy she is healing better than I could have hoped!

Glad to read that your effort to sav the bird appear to be working. It's never easy saving a bird and when you do it feels extremely rewarding.

Worked on the large fowl coop today. I took a 6' bank of cages out and reinstalled them 8" higher. I wanted to replace the cage bottom at the same time. It only took 1 trip to Home Depot, 1 trip to TSC, and 3 trips to Lowe's before I discovered I already had what I needed to affect the change. At least I found that out before I had installed the wire mesh for Lowe's. Usually I find things after I have already used something else.

I think you are wise to bring her in at night. It is getting colder out there and weaker birds can develop a bit of respiratory sneezing this time of year.

OPA - I am glad I am not the only person that has to make several trips to the home stores! That makes me feel better to hear you say it!
