Fuzzy - all chickens go to heaven

I just made that up but we can hope!

Glad to read that your effort to sav the bird appear to be working. It's never easy saving a bird and when you do it feels extremely rewarding.

Worked on the large fowl coop today. I took a 6' bank of cages out and reinstalled them 8" higher. I wanted to replace the cage bottom at the same time. It only took 1 trip to Home Depot, 1 trip to TSC, and 3 trips to Lowe's before I discovered I already had what I needed to affect the change. At least I found that out before I had installed the wire mesh for Lowe's. Usually I find things after I have already used something else.
Come on Opa... admit it... You are a man and just love going to the Depot and Lowes, even when there is nothing you need from either.

And then you come home with a new drill and of course you had to get the new bits that go with it... etc...
Football! We are watching football BYFM!
Glad your girl is healing!

I think you are wise to bring her in at night. It is getting colder out there and weaker birds can develop a bit of respiratory sneezing this time of year.

OPA - I am glad I am not the only person that has to make several trips to the home stores! That makes me feel better to hear you say it!
Oh yeah... that thing called football... Never got into any sports and it is hard for me to watch them on TV... would rather see them live, as I am sure most people would. My neighbor gets really into the Michigan games... you can usually hear screaming coming from the many drunken friends over there!

Truth be told, I absolutely detest Home Depot. They contributed to the demise of local lumber yards and that loss has made my life more difficult.

At a lumber yard I could get quality lumber. I would place an order with a counter man who knew what I was talking about. I would then drive my truck into the yard where a yardman would help me load the materials I had just purchased. In and out in short order.

Now I have to use imported lumber that I have to sort through to find a straight board. Load it on a cart, maneuver it through crowded aisles to stand in line waiting to check out, then wheel it in to parking lot and load it by myself. Oft times materials must be special order and that in and of its self is a joke. If something is out of the ordinary and the computer doesn't show it it doesn't exist. I have to convince the sales person that after almost 50 years in the business I know what I'm talking about.

When Home Depot first came into the area we received a special invitation to visit the store prior to the opening where they told us how much nicer it was going to be than what we were used to. Highly trained counter people, special contractor only checkout lines. Everything possible to speed up the process and lessen our time in the store so we could get back to the job quickly. What a joke.

Trying to find a salesperson to wait on you is difficult. When you do you stand there waiting while they explain to a homeowner how to do something. When you finally get your items, have checked out, you find the loading zone plugged with unattended vehicles so you must push the cart half way across a parking lot. Oh yeah they've made the process easier.

Then to add icing on the cake they are satisfied with just selling materials they also sell the installation, which puts them in completion with the local contractors.

Good morning people. Now that I am off my soap box and have some coffee down my neck life is looking bright again.

I've got the truck loaded and as soon as I take Granny to church Hope and I are headed to one of the area lakes to fish for a couple of hours. Then back home to pick more tomatoes to can.

On Tuesday David and I are going to go to Lyons and see if we can launch there. The primary reason is to scout the runs and holes between there and Ionia in preparation for the arrival of the salmon. With the cooling weather it shouldn't be much longer before they have traveled upstream as far Lansing. It's been years since he and I have gotten to fish together so I am really looking forward to spending the day with him. I just dawned on me that he is now more than forty years older than he was the first time we went fishing together. I don't remember exactly how old he was but I do remember having to take diapers with us just in case he had an accident. A scary thought, I wonder how many years it will be before we again have to take diapers with us in case I have an accident. Life really does travel in a circle.

Beautiful morning out there. Not so beautiful because I have caught my son's cold. Weird cold, my sinuses feel like I've been sniffing Jalapenos.

Fuzzybutt - my roo is a bit over two years. He has always been the friendly guy until the last month. I have had 2 rotten roosters in the past but they were only about a year old when they started. He is still nice to the girls but has become a bit of a food bully besides chasing me around. The peck to the butt though ticked me off!

I had hoped to get fresh wood chips to go around the coops and chicken yard before we got a lot of rain. It helps cut down on our mud. But now looking at the forecast they are predicting rain all week for us. I also have some coop work to do that I'm not sure I want to hurry up and do it today.
